Linux and BF2

I am seriously thining of using Kubuntu for a change (Win XP is starting to annoy me in LOTS of lil ways.)
Unfortunately BF2 dosent use Linux (tho it should in my opinon).
Anybody know of a decent XP emulator for Linux thats easy to use?

get a (legal) version of windows XP, and just use windows for gaming.

im also intrested in using linux, cause its 64 bit , when you find something that works, post it here or pm me please.

Lots of people recommend the Ubuntu distros* for beginners. I don't like Ubuntu, but millions of people can't be wrong (or can they?). I recommend Suse and PCLinuxOS for beginners. PCLinuxOS is easy and simple to use, Suse is a little more robust but still easy. If you want to try an emulator to run your games, Cedega is probably your best bet. It's cheap and has a GUI front end. Wine, which Cedega is based on, is much harder to use. I was never successful in getting BF2 to run on it though. You may be better of leaving a WinXP install on a small partition for gaming. That's what I do.

You might like SUSE. Also wine does a decent job of emulating a windows enviroment. All thougH I would not recommend playing bf2 in it. Check WoW forums as lot of those "people" use wine to play WoW in linux.

well i heard of about people playing WoW on linux using a program called WINE maybe it works for BF2 too...

Yea sorry i am searching for the tech answer. I tried for a while to get it to work. Just creat a 15 gb partition for windwos and use the rest for linux. I have friends who swear by gentoo, all though the learning curve is steap. I really like SUSE for the ease of setup and it has a really nice look and features.

Here ya go. You can use Codega to play bf2 but here is the catch -

Battlefield 2

* This game must be installed in WinXP mode. To switch modes go to Advanced tab of the Cedega install dialog, select options and choose Winver winxp.
* Users MUST choose to accept the installation of DirectX 9.0C to play this game. Please carefully read the associated EULA and only accept if you meet all DirectX license requirements.
* You must have X set to 24 bit depth to play Battlefield 2.
* NVIDIA users will require driver version at least 7676. This game may not work with other video cards.
* Currently only low-detail mode is supported, although users with high-end graphics cards may be able to use some higher settings.
* Multiplayer play will not work on Punkbuster enabled servers.
* This game requires a configuration profile created by Cedega 5.0 or later to run. These profiles enable FBO, Pixel Shaders 1.4 and WinXP mode by default for this title.
* Users may experience the occasional error message when quitting Battlefield 2 complaining that the game is unable to unload a DLL. You may ignore this error or use the Stop button in Cedega to bypass this error.
* This game will not work on an ATI graphics card.
