The US changed to 5.56 in the early 70s because it allowed troops to carry more ammo, they then convinced the rest of NATO to change to this caliber to simplify logistics. I do not think they would change back to the larger 7.62 round now as it would mean the whole of NATO would have to change, even though I preferred the larger round as in my opinion it is better then the 5.56.seymorebutts443 wrote:

the xm8 was put on hold (all of us knows that this means cancelled) so that is weeded out. the OICW/XM29 will probally be for special forces due to its cost.
