Which faith? Religious? Confidence of trustworthiness? a set of principles?

[a little fun with the word ignorance before I answer]
Ignorance is a strange word. Isn't it wierd that almost every other english word conjugates differently than ignore-ignorance does?

Ignore=To refuse to pay attention to; disregard.
Ignorance=The condition of being uneducated, unaware, or uninformed.
-ance is the "act of"  lol ...how did the act of ignoring get to "being unaware"? If someone is ignoring something they are not paying attention so you would call them ignorant but that means they don't know! lmao - anyone else have a better language for me to learn? this one sucks.

If we are talking about God then-

Since we are all in a state of ignorance to some degree perhaps your statement is true.
I think sanity or high intelligence require some balance of ignorance but faith does not. Since God is depicted as all knowing does God not have any beliefs? That would make God the ultimate scientist right?  Faith does not equal nor require a state of unawareness or uninformedness, although just coincidentally it may in some cases.

Blind faith, IN ANYTHING, including your country or president, political parties (remember fascism/nazism?) your future, even your girlfriend, requires ignorance. Its this extremism that requires ignorance. It is also this extremism that creates extremists and fundamentalists.

If faith really required ignorance, then you would be able to affirm most of the world is ignorant, because the majority of the world has faith in some sort of god/religion/after life/etc. And that would include many of the worlds greatest people like Mahatma Gandhi, Abraham Lincoln, Linus Pauling, and so may others.
I think ignorance leads to extremism but extremism may not require ignorance. Some scientists are extremists but would we call them ignorant?

Yes... What would a chemist know about metaphysics or geopolitics? Probably nothing, in which case he would be ignorant of it. Just because somebody is smart, doesn't mean they can't be ignorant (I have several friends like this...).
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
