How is it possible that he is a 1st LT, about to be a captain? He doesn't have neither the basic pistol or knife badges, let alone alot of others. On my profile, it says 'You are not eligible for blah blah rank because you don't have blah blah', and I'm only a SGT.

First one, WTF? I don't get what you're getting at here, not having badges doesn't hold you back, just doesn't open up the alternative rank you could get for having them all. And it's ARTYONDEMAND, his stats are screwed, and we get a thread about him on a daily basis. Try searching next time!

Because basic knife and basic pistol were only important between these 2 ranks: Master Sergeant & First Sergeant !
You can only become First Sergeant if you get ALL basics before hitting the 20K

Once you hit 50K, it will have no further value to your rank .
