Yeah, I tried all you suggested Heretic. Nothing. I have tried all everyone has suggested thus far (except the PB thing, working on it now), If it is indeed our graphics cards, then how come lots of us are having the exact same problem, yet we can run Single Player PERFECT?

freakin bad luck, after i came from halloween walking around the neighborhood, my mother board etherneth will not work, so no internet on my main pc, writing from my ppc.
yea so i haven't tried the pb thing, if anyone has keep it updated, we have to find out what it is

oh wow i tried doing the pbweb update thingy and it said no pb files were found on my drive, HMMMM??? i think im gettin somewere
got same problem..
You Need to download pbweb.exe to the Battlefield 2\pb directory, I don't know where you installed it. On mine it is: C:\Games\Battlefield 2\pb\ and then run it from there.GTKtino wrote:

FOUND OUT THE PROBLEM!! i played for about two hours until i got out my self , : ), just go to the pb website http://www.evenbalance.com/index.php?page=dl-bf2.php, and save the securtity, client, and server files into ur pb folder, ull problaly already see them there but overwrite them and you should be good to go!!

I too, have this problem.
But on top of this crashing to desktop, i have a sligth sound problem.
What happens?
About half way through map load my sound(music) starts to get all garbled up and then is gone.Once ingame (if i don't crash shortly afterwards) I can only hear certain things..explosions,birds, fires..footsteps..seem to about the only thing i can hear. I can't hear myself shoot, or tank shells, or apc's fire..sucks really.. i thought it may have been a driver problem. so i installed the newest Soundblaster driver,did nothing. so i did a driver roll-back and still get the same thing.
All started yesterday...
I'm only like 100 points from my next rank to.. i'm itching to play

yea seems like we were able to play singleplayer fine because it didnt require pb, and i would guess when the actual pb was trying to update it couldnt do it because of the maintainance on 10/29(problaly messed up the current pb files) therefore making us have to overwrite them. and add that security file.
Ok since people are getting this related problem again, as well as me I thought it should stay in this thread!

it kicks people out but actually shows a message "connection was lost" or something like that
updating pb does not help, as it solved it on the first problem back in october.

Yes im getting the same here, but mine totally freezes up and i have to restart my comp. I never updated last time with the PB thing it just sorted itself out the next day. Any help or advice would be appreciated.

This would not surprise me if this was something to do with SF expansion pack thats due to come out, its getting us ready with our BF2. I need my BF2 at the mo since i have just bleedin quit smoking, 2 days since i have had a smoke and now this is happening grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
I had the problem with a freezing spawn screen when joining a new server (also in singleplayer). THerefore the game was unplayable.
Removed the game, reinstalled, added pathces, didn't work. Tried it without patches, with restarting in between the patches, nothing worked.
Then I removed everything (scrrenshots, profiles too). I was the profiles fault. After their removal i reinstalled the game and the pathces. Now it works again.

There's an new version of punkbuster that just came out. You need to update to the latest version.

Yeah I noticed that too. Last nite after I installed the latest PB update it worked, but today it didn't...
This has been happening to me too, it started today but updating PB seemed to work (for now anyway) so i wonder what the problem is.
