Just printed somewhere on the mobo, eith er that or it should tell you when you start the PC up.

Other option would be to download CPU-Z or Sandra, I think they both query that kind of info.

Well, I shut down, booted back up, pressed F2, and this is what I found.

My default setting for the main video controler is set to PEG.

Upon further research, thats PCI express.

But it looked like an AGP slot. I don't know whats right.

Sounds like Teamsreth was right then and it is a PCI-E mobo. I'd still download either of teh above just to put your mind at rest before spending your cash.

Install ATI Catalyst Control Center if you dont have it (ati.com).  Open up the CCC, click on "View" at the top, then "Advanced."  Click on "Information Center," then "Graphics Hardware."  Right there in the middle of the window, it'l say "Bus Type" and across from it it'l say "PCI-Express" or whatever bus-type your card is on.  I'm about 99% sure there aren't any X-series cards that were made for the PCI bus though.  Only AGP and PCI-Express.

Edit:  Here's a pic of my CCC showing my "Graphics Hardware" info and bus-type.

This is what I found on the mobo:

On a sticker: "Dell REV A02"; Imprinted on the mobo itself: "E210882"

And the slot is the same size as my PCI slot for my SB Audigy 2ZS sound card. I think its AGP.

It's definitely not PCI, we just don't know whether it's AGP or PCI-E, it's looking more an more like PCI-E although your suggestion should clear it up. Didn't think of catalyst control centre. One word of caution, CCC is a massive resource whore. If it's not installed already prepare to see a reduction in performance when you do.

I had catalyst control center, but deleted it because I got massive lag on COD2 when I tried to play it. Deleting it solved the problem. I don't wanna install it again.

Well according to the manual for the mobo it's AGP 8x, so no PCI-E graphics cards for you I'm afraid.

Can you link me to the manual for the mobo please?

QFE

Then just install it for a min to see, if you want to find out so badly.  It's not hard to install/uninstall.

Edit: To this post ^^^

Okay, just to double check.

Yep, thats it.

Okay, so what are my options for mind blowing AGP card graphics?

It's PCI-e, they don't make X300s for PCI.  The only good ones for PCI are the Radeon 9250 and the GeForce 5200.  The newer 9250s can play BF2 I think, I don't know about the 5200 though.

7800 GS AGP card is the fastest for AGP version.

I've never heard of ATI Tool.

Anyway, I'm installing CCC right now, so we'll see what it says.

7800GS -  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814130269

or

X800 XT - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814102492

I'd go for the 7800GS since it's newer and prolly a lil better.  Right at the $300 mark too.

This is great.........CCC says its PCI-Express.

My thing is, the pic of the mobo in the manual looks like mine and the slot is black and the same size as the PCI slots.

Is it PCI-E or AGP? I can't tell!

It's PCI-Express if CCC says so.  They prolly didn't update the info in that mobo-manual since PCI_Express was just born around the time that PC was made and they were too lazy to change the manual or didn't think it'd matter to people since retail buyers dont care about that crap.

Just a suggestion, if you have a PC shop anywhere near you just remove your graphics card, take it in and ask them what the hell it is if you want to be absolutely sure and don't trust what everything is telling you.
