And the more sensible answerm spec ops seems like a relatively good all round kit, decent ground role, can take out tanks, get's my vote.

pretend everybody is medic and then comes a tank xD
but it might be that ea really do this in the infantry only mod... there you neither need engy or anti tank and it could may be a sensefull optional modification...

i have played Bf2 for almost a year now... and i always play as spec ops and there are a few reasons why?
1) they are the most well balanced class in the game.
2) they have the pinpoint accuracy of a sniper thanks to the g36
3) they can run and gun like the assault class
4) they can do anti tank/ engineer by destroying vehicles with Mr. C4 himself.
5) there the only class that can destroy commander assets.
i love using c4 in close quarters especially in warlord. place c4 near a corner where the enemy cant see it, and when you see them...KABOOM, easy kill.

i would say spec-ops because i love the G36C and the ability to take out armor. but medic is definately a close second..they can revive teammates to help the team, heal yourself and others, and the G36E is beastly...and of course the massive points.
