I could probably grow a beard, I can't afford the time off work.

I had 3-4 days of not shaving to kickstart my Movember moustache and I guess it was OK.
That was a thing of wonder, I went for the 'squadron leader' and after a month I'm sure it could have conducted a sortie and shot down a brace of Focke-Wulfs by itself.

One thing I hate is goatees and worse those stupid little chin-tufts.

Goatees look dumb enough from the front, if people could see themselves from the side what would they think?

you could achieve the same effect by sticking a piece of tape to your chin.

i think there's a lot more leeway these days for men who want to grow beards. you shouldn't have to take time off unless your company is a special kind of anal retentive.

there's still (or we're back to) a certain negative perception of beards in some places that could either not matter, or matter a lot actually, from case to case. i'm all for people growing what they want on their chin and as they please weathering whatever summary judgment they get. but it could be risky for interaction certain emergency services, depending. someone with a perfect shape may still be seen as a bum. so say nothing of by some of the class of people who adulate pictures of holy bearded men.

plus, the work needed for an immaculate beard seems like much more than for just a clean shaven face.

Its more that I don't feel I have the energy to work and grow a moustache at the same time.
Maybe the unions can fight for moustache leave.
