Hi all,

I have searched around a few forums and i cannot find any info on limiting the bandwidth that BF2 uses. Here is my problem, I have an adsl 512/128 connection with 4 PC's connected to my network, if I'm playing and one other machine opens a web page i get kicked for high ping rate. I have friends who run BF2 on 256/64 links so the game runs with slower connections.

Is there a way to limit how much bandwidth BF2 uses or am i doomed to only play when no one else needs to be on line.

I have tried to convince my wife that i need a faster connection but I'm still working on it

Thanks

I think in this place you're likely to find information on how to give it more rather than take it away.  I don't think anything good would come from throttling it back anyway.

Im sure you can limit the amount of bandwidth the other PC's use that would leave you the rest...

Just unplug the other computers from the internet.  Problem solved.

The more expensive routers allow you to perform bandwidth limiting or even traffic prioritisation but they tend to be quite expensive. You could also play with the Windows QoS service but I don't think you will get much improvement out of that.

A little while back I went from 515Kb/s to 1Mb/s and the improvement for BF2 was noticable. If you want to get things to run smoother then you will have to shell out on a faster line I'm afraid.
