I want to see if the mic works on this new sound card I got because it is known for not having the mic work, but HP didn't include any recording software on the computer so I need one from the interweb.

Well, it looks like the mic port doesn't work. That really sucks, I was planning on using VOIP soon.
It said something about cannot setup directvoice play. It also said "Windows cannot execute DpvSetup.exe, use Add/Remove Programs to install.".
Doesn't work in TS no matter what I do. It's gotta be the sound card.

3. On the Performance tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider at least one position to the right(basically taking it off none).

off none? not on, Off. To the right.
Move it to basic or higher.
if this is true then do this
Start>Run>Regedit>OK
Now navigate to the following location:-
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\DIRECTPLAY\VOICE\AUDIOCONFIG
Expand AUDIOCONFIG to get FullDuplex, HalfDuplex, and MicDetected .Right-click the FullDuplex value and Modify DWORD Value to 3 in the Value Data field and click OK. For the HalfDuplex and MicDetected DWORD values, should be 3 and 2 respectively. Close the Registry Editor and reboot the system.
[note:-before proceeding close or End task Dpvsetup.exe or DirectPlay Voice through the Task Manager.]
