I'm going to Thailand soon, to that big assed computer shop. I'm planning on buying a laptop their to play BF on and I was wondering what graph card would be the best. Preferably under 100 pounds. (~200 dollars)

thanks

(Sound card suggestions also welcome)

My mate ahs suggested an ATI Radeon X700. Good move? (EDIT)

Well laptops (figuratively speaking) do not have upgradable graphics cards. They do technically (Nvida has Exe IIRC) but trying to find one in a shop would be very very hard. It would be much more wise to buy a laptop that already has a video card Built in it. I would try and find a laptop with a Go 7800 if you want to play BF2 at a nice setting.

If anyone could find a built in laptop with the BF2 prequisites I would be in your debt.

The BF2 specs:

Windows XP
1.7 Ghz CPU
512MB of RAM
128MB video card (requires support for 1.4 shaders)
DVD-ROM drive
Directx 9.0b Compatible Sound Card
a lot of hard disk space

I am currently browsing sites like Cnet
Sony Vaio work?

Hmm, so these would be the laptops that aren't getting amazing reviews on Anandtech, Tomshardware, Hexus and all the other review sites.

Ahh but they are way over priced. So you say, ah so are IBM's (Lenovo), but you are really paying for the quality of the Thinkbook line. THey are tough as rocks.

I have a Asus s96J, great performer, very sturdy. Acer seem to be hit or miss, hot most of the time though.
Ok so your budget is about 1200-1500 USD? Hmm this will be a bit more difficult.

5 days. In 2 weeks we leave so not much waiting time. I didnt expect it to be that cheap. My mums friend there says up to 400 quid less.

Is the Aus s96j a good option, sniped?
