Ok, so I am going to order this 7600gt, and it says it requires 18 amps on the +12v, but I only have 15 amps on the +12v on my psu. Now, I am wondering if the card will blow up my psu or not. Thanks for the help.

Oh yeah, I have a 350 watt psu.

I do not claim to be very knowledgable about stuff this technical, however, I doubt that your psu would blow up since it is lacking the amperage required for running the card. Most likely the card will either 1) not run at all, or 2) run very poorly and possibly become damaged as a result.

If you are going to purchase high end computer parts it is always best to have a solid power supply to run them smoothly and safely.

Ok, cool, thanks for the help. I was just wondering because my friend got a new graphics card and after a few weeks his power supply blew up and his mobo died, but the graphics card still worked, though a few months later we were putting some arctic silver on his processor and he decided to use a screwdriver to get the old grease off but he didn't know it was slightly magnetized, so we thought at first it was the motherboard, which he replaced, again, then figured out it was the processor... He's unlucky, lol. So that's why I asked.

yeah ...  it's better to get a new PSU. overloading the PSU can lead to all sorts of problems; from just not starting up to everything getting fried

from what i know ocz make some of the best psu's so something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817711002
should be perfect for u

and don't let the price bother u, as psu's are really the most important thing in ur computer and if u buy a cheap one and it fails then it may damage your computer parts.

Wow, that price makes me cringe... I'm not hardcore enough. That's why I was thinking of this.

no. not a perfect fit

list by janus (and i absloutely agree here):
Antec
Seasonic
PC Power and Cooling
OCZ
Mushkin (have heard some good things about their new line)
Enermax
Sparkle
Fortron (FSP Group)
Zippy
this is the list of good PSU brands. you should only take good PSUs as el-cheapo ones can cause damage (via voltage fluctuations) and die easyly. the wattage ratings are peak values (and operation values are much lower). Continuous operation at near 100% load will kill the PSU. stick to the quality ones and dont buy minimum allowed power as you have no headroom to oc

The usual rail to be underpowered is the 12V rail.

Dual 14A or Single 20A is what I'd reccomend these days. Last you a while.

Spend at least $60

Well, I got an Enermax power supply, it's 535 watts, SLI ready, and has 18 amps on the 12v rails. I also didn't get it from newegg, and it was cheaper (omg) by 10 bucks costing 96. So thanks for all your guy's help.

You may be able to get away with it if you dedicate an entire rail to your video card, but underpower can damage components just as easily as overpower. Contacting your PSU manufacturer with the question could help, but I'm sorry to say that tech support guys can be more part salesmen than techies.

This is my powersupply.  I have had no probs with it.  My components are too  important to risk on a cheap psu.
