Yes they are very fun, which is why i got the DAO originally. However, it soon wears off when you dont get any points. Just play MEC or pick one up if you feel the urge for an auto shotgun.

The DAO is brilliant! Sure I dont use it often but I can handle it in ANY map.
Just use your rocket launcher for long distances .
Believe me, the DAO is good in every map!

If its brilliant why dont you use it often? o.0!

The only real use it has apart from Karkand would be capping/defending flag points. However, only the more closed in ones work, as open ones like Dragon Valley have lots of clear space around the flag, rendering the DAO useless.

Just use your rocket launcher for long distances
I've tried doing this, but that means you dont have any rockets left to deal with armor. You only get 5 as it is. That only leaves you with the pistol, which isnt great. Thats why i do all my anti-tanking with Special Ops or Engineer laying mines and then grabbing another kit.

I dont use it often because im hooked on Medic and I would like to work on Support and Sniper a little now.

Do not underestimate the pistol. Its VERY accurate and with a few well placed shots you can easily take some1 out.

Ofcourse the DAO isnt usefull when your in the middle of nowhere jumping around in some open-area.
When your a AT you gotta think like one. Go in narrow streets and what not. I dont know about you, but I can operate AT in every map, always.

Two words.  Don't miss.  I'm yet to get into a close quarters situation with the DAO where I'm against two guys that I can't take them both out and sometimes even soften up a 3rd so i can finish him off with a pistol.  And not for nothing, but if you don't have a long range weapon, don't get into long range fire fights...that's the whole point to learning how to effectively use different kits.

And sewermasta:
In my experience, there is zero difference between what one shot from the M24 or M95 does to infantry units.  If - a big IF - there is a difference, it ultimately doesn't matter because if there's not headshot, either rifle requires two shots to kill.  The glass piercing capability is the only real difference between the two.  There may be some difference in effective range, but there's not documentation on bullet drop for BF2.

If you haven't already decided I would go with the jackhammer. The M95 is the same as the m24 with the exception of being able to shoot through glass and the pkm really isn't much different from the saw. I've found the pkm to be unpredictable.. sometimes I'll lay waste to everyone in a few rounds and sometimes I'll go prone and empty 20 rounds into someone running straight at me only to watch the bullets fly wide on every shot completely missing the center of the screen.... It really depends on which class you prefer. I lean towards engineer cause I like blowing stuff up but it's entirely up to you which class you prefer.

Personally I love the usmc engineer weapon, the m11-87 can absolutely own ppl if you're adept at timing your runs and aiming to kill. There's not a more powerful close range weapon in the game than the pump.

I say PKM. The PKM is a pretty nasty killing machine. The pump OWNS the jackoffhammer, the only time I ever even use the jackoffhammer is when I'm MEC because their auto shotty is about equally as shiity. Pumps own that thing so bad. Plus, when you fire the jackoffhammer, it feels so laggy. The recoil I mean, it's like *shoot* *wonder if you shot* *gun magically makes you aim 3 inches higher instantly* *by this time the guy killed you, when if you had a pump its BOOM *pump* BOOM *pump* BOOM, not BOOM *uhhhh lag* *death*

Thanks guys, some good information here. 2 unlocks left for me and the PKM is going to be choesn next.
