Iam buying a new Hard drive, cause somethign happened to my old one and I cant boot from it. Tried putting in my Windows Disk but all i get is a black screen after I select to boot. So it is between these two hard drives:

This one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6822148140

or This one: http://www.samsclub.com/shopping/naviga … rDeTab=2#A

I know nothing about Hard drives. Just lookinf for some opinions.

This is the Hard drive that doesnt work anymore: http://www.seagate.com/cda/products/dis … 86,00.html

Another question. If I go with the second one, Will it be good enough to run BF2?

I would go with the Seagate...just because it's a Seagate. They make reaaallly good quality drives.

Cool I guess ill go with the Seagate one. On a side note... anyone know whats wrong with my compie. I put my Windows disc in because I wanted to reformat, because I was dual booting and wanted to get rid of Linux. So I deleted the Linux partitions and procceded to "repair" windows because of another problem I had when it booted. Then I restarted and put my Windows disc back in. It said "Hit any key to boot from CD" I hit enter... and all it does is go to a black screen. Evrrytime I try to boot from a CD. But, if I try to boot from my Hard drive I just get a blinking cursor. So I guess i have no OS on it right now. If I buy this new Hard drive will this fix the problem?

You might try booting off a Win98 floppy (if your computer has a floppy drive).  If it boots, run format on the drive and try your windows CD again.  You can get a Win98 boot disk image from www.bootdisk.com.

I would consider doing a CMOS reset.  When you boot from a CD, the presence or condition of the hard drive are irrelevant.

As for the drive, I would definitely recommend the Seagate because it is only $10 more, and for that $10 you get.

1. 70GB more space.
2. SATA instead of PATA.
3. A 16MB cache Vs. 8MB.
4. A 5-year warranty Vs. 1-year.
5. Newer technology, like NCQ and vertical writing.

I have two of this identical drive.  They run superbly
