I dont advocate war, I think war is aweful and a human shame!  However, unfortunately war is a necessary evil in our world.  For christs sake there would be no United States of America if we didnt fight the British.  There wouldn't be a Europe full of thriving countries if we didnt fight the German war machine.  I think war should be avoided, but never put off the table as a means to preserve democracy. 

In regards to torture, I believe that if a man knows something, and he is a "high value prisoner" he should be interogated.  Now by interogated I dont be electricuted, or flogged, I mean forced to talk through pressure methods.  Whatever they may be, as long as it is not cutting off hands and beating the shit out of someone.  But mental games to get someone to talk is perfectly exceptable to extract valuable actionable intelligence.  Keep in mind these people are trying to kill us by any means necessary, a little sleep deprivation never hurt anyone!!  These people deserve no sympathy in my book, and should be treated as terrorists(which they are) and interogated like terrorists.  They arent part of an army, an army which is protected under the geneva convention.  They fight under a perverted band of Islam, and should be forceably interogated.

Granted, not all that were captured were terrorists, I will give you that.  However, the guys they have their still, are hardened terrorists.  The ones that the USA doesnt want, have been released. 

Let me ask you this. . . you think that terrorists should only give their "rank, name, serial number"?? Because if thats the case, we will NEVER beat the terrorists, and the cycle of violence will continue with no end. 

Do you want us to win the war on terror?? I mean it seems as if you would rather have the Islamic terror groups win. . . . given all the sympathy and rights you want to give them.  They are terrorists, therefore do NOT receive the same treatment as regular soldiers, what dont you get about that?

Interesting discussion from my point of view (Aussie).

A few points of interest:

1) No-one has mentioned Godwin's Law, (or Quirk's Exception for that matter)

2) Education is no guarantee of intelligent comment ( I shall refrain from any judgement of the US education system)

3) The determination NOT to flame or insult will usually not last more than a dozen posts....

4) And finally, it is very easy to tell the difference between a typo and a bad speller (not that it makes a huge difference to the validity of the comment, but as was mentioned before, its hard to take it seriously when the spelling is less than perfect).

PS: David Hicks, anyone?

I think if your native language gives you difficulty, you might be struggling a little come philosophy, but there are many NESB contributors here so mea culpa.
