Ok, I did a search on this and it brought up a LOT of pages, all of which none were useful because they seemed to be unrelated to what I was searching for.  That being said, please don't flame me.

I came back to bf2s.com forums after a good 5 months of, well, doing other things.  I come back to see this whole nifty Karma thing going on.  Since I have a really large ePenis and it must be tended to, I thought the Karma system would be nifty - a virtual high five for kicking ass so to speak.  However, what I've come to realize is that, although positive Karma is all well and good, I've been getting randomly spammed negative Karma for absolutely no reason.

This wouldn't be so bad if people would leave their names.  I'm not some kind of vindictive asshole who would go and spam -1 on every post I could find of someone's simply because they -1'd to me.  Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and if you're willing to make an intelligent counterpoint or give me ANY kind of rationed reason as to why you deemed necessary to -1 me, leave your name and number and I'll get right back to you.  Hell, if I've made an egregious error I might even APOLOGIZE to you.

Unfortunately this isn't the case.  I was just sort of wondering when the Karma system was introduced and why.  Also, what's the point in having it if it's anonymous?  I can understand the point that there would be -1 wars if you were forced to leave your name, but if that's the case I think people would be more cautious and reserved about sending someone into the negatives instead of just randomly spamming -1's.

/rant.

well, the mods and admins will sanction karma abuse, so if you feel someone has repeatedly given you neg. karma for no good reason, is flaming away in the karma comment, or uses a false name in the karma comment, PM a mod or admin and we will take care of it.

Well, leaving a name would be the thing to do if one has any balls (excluding female bf2s'rs?)
It's easy to not leave a name... that way you don't get -'d back.
I agree that if I get a -karma but the person has a good counter to what I say and leaves a name... I have been known to leave +karma to them  for having the decency to admit to it and at least had a good argument.

you can also find some Karma discussion here: http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=22597

karma is a personal thing. Some give it out for good reason, others just randomly. Thus, its meaning is limited. Personally, I wouldn't take it too seriously.

However, not everyone gives it out randomly. I'd say the majority of members uses it well, which means your karma score can be an indication of the emotions your posts create among the community.

Agreed - ty Schuss for your helpfulness.

I have yet to get a good reason or someone to take responsibility for their -1'ing yet.  My favorite -1 karma will always be in my sig.

thier not supposed to take responsability. we had that before, its just made ppl give negative karma to the person that karma'd then for no reason.
