Ok I know what I said about the US n all but... my vote goes to mother Russia cause i'd love to see what would 've happened if the USSR hadn't collapsed. Plus there was no Spain option (cameron how could u forget?)

PS: im thinking Spain as it was before that sonofabitch Franco killed all the anarchists...?

That is very "un Australian", if that were ever actually said there they would not say "shrimp" but "prawn", since the word shrimp is not used in Australia.

I doubt that phrase has ever been seriously used inside Australia and it was just a westernized movie selling gimmick, that has no authenticity.
That sounds like the Americans obbsession with associating "Fig Newtons" with Britain.  For the record, I wouldn't know what a 'fig newton' was if it hit me in the face.....

China not imparialistic? Not right now. If they could attack, they would. Their massive army is held at bay due to the fact that they can't get to Europe without going through Russia, and they can't get to America without first building a huge Navy.
Can I ask where you get your World knowledge from?  It's just I'm planning on having kids one day and I'll need to know which history books to avoid teaching them from.....Thanks

I imagine you would have fun with China as a superpower. Perhaps you could hop on a plane and join in the next time they have protests against the government. I am sure such a loud and vocal person as yourself would be quite welcome.

I voted India.
Hinduism is the domanent religion with 82 percent of the population practicing it. Unlike most other religions, Hinduism does not advocate the worship of one particular deity. One may worship Shiva or Vishnu or Rama or Krishna or some other gods and goddesses or one may believe in the 'Supreme Spirit' or the 'Indestructible Soul' within each individual and still be called a good Hindu. This gives an indication of the kind of contrasts this religion is marked by. At one end of the scale, it is an exploration of the 'Ultimate Reality'; at the other end there are cults that worship spirits, trees and animals. My point is its a flexible religion that allows its followers to worship how they wish. Unfortunately governments/rulers are usually tied to some kind of religion. A government based on Hinduism would rule much better that say a Christian one. They believe we keep coming back, so maybe more onus would be put on the future, with say global warming being taken more seriously. They would have to ditch the colonial Indian rhetoric though.

Also the whole world should eat curry.

I know that guy!  Whenever I get a tank on BF2 he always turns up and stands in front of my tank forcing me to teamkill him.  Shame, there's no pictorial evidence of when he stands on the runway in front of planes....

I don't see China as the most benevolent potential superpower, rather the most benign to non-Chinese.

I think they would provide balance in a globe that is desparately seeking it, given the impending implosion of the UN in the wake of recent unilateralism. I'll be able to practice my free speech here in Europe while the major global players get down to 'balancing each other out', politically and economically.

China sould be interesting as the dominant force of the world...they are probably the closest to socialist democracy, which I would like to see.

You mean in the wake of recent exploitation by certain member countries in violating the resolutions of the security council such as 'oil for food', right?

I voted EU, even though I live in the US.  I just think the US is sticking its nose in too many foreign affairs.  I think the EU would be the most fair.  Definitely not China or Russia.

yeah, as another poster said, i would like to know why we will be shortly returning to a multi-superpower world? I read so many different news sources every day (left and right, can't argue effectively if you dont know the other side), and i haven't seen anything close this happening yet. Russia, years away from economically being a superpower, plus they have quite a bit of "internal problems". China, same as russia on the economics. Yes, they are a very large economy. however, their infrastructure is too weak to support a superpower. as well as russia, they have some "internal problems".... India, another large economy, but again their infrastructure is not on par with being a superpower, and they have a long way to go. Any islamic group of nations/peoples..... do i need to even address this one? The EU.... yes, a very large economy, yes they have the infrastructure, no they dont have the right type of government to be a superpower. You really think that 25+ nations can come together and act the way a superpower needs to act to be considered so? if anybody, they have the best shot at it, but their differences and national pride will always get in the way. there needs to be a generation of people that were born under the EU and lived under the EU and rule it before that happens, and thats a while away. any latin american coalition??? again, infrastructure, economy not in place.

While I dont doubt that one day, somewhere in the future, there will be another superpower, it is, at best, 20 years away in my opinion. And why the hell would we want another superpower? Two superpowers in the world, and you dont think a massive war could break out or they may not work together and people could get hurt???? ever heard of the phrase "too many cooks in the kitchen"? too many superpowers trying to do what they think is right could only lead to disaster. I know im not holding my breath for another superpower, in fact, i dont look forward to the day because of the impact it is going to have on the world in a negative way. id be interested to hear what people think of too many superpowers, or not enough, depending on your opinion....

And the continous vetoing of resolutions condemning human rights abuses committed by Israel and the initiation of wars without full UN Security Council approval. It's an ineffective piece of shit.

Not really - none of the bad stuff in the world generally happens to us here in peaceful old Europe. It doesn't really matter a toss who is pulling the strings.

I'd like to see a sudden rise in power of the EU, slight rise in power of China, slight drop in power of America, massive rise in power of Australia/New Zealand/Ireland/Egypt, *massive* drop in power of Israel, such that all western democracies are equal, and powerful enough to make the rest of the world follow suit, at which point they all get plenty of power too.  No super powers, everyone equal.  Less wars that way: you don't start a war if you don't think you can win.  Failing that, E.U.  Europe ruled the world once, here's hoping they learned from their mistakes.

The caste system is a hangover from the colonial times. Based on the class system that still exists in the UK although.shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh no ones allowed to talk about it!
