I simply could not agree more, its brutal that both our Canadian and American governments let these gross, sick, peverted bastards back into the mainstream of society. There is no doubt to me that they should be locked up for life the FIRST time they do this crap, not the second or the third until the judical system FINALLY gets the point.

Considering that molestation, rape and sex crimes as a whole are far less severe then murder, I'd say you would have to have murderers impaled on burning hot iron spikes, only to be held in a state of half-conciousness for all eternity by some modern medical miracle if we were to make the penalties in proportion with the magnitude of the crime, in the eyes of the law.

It used to be legal in the United States to chemically castrate sex offenders - this was overturned after a while, although was still legal to chemically castrate the mentally handicapped sex offenders for a while longer (and was later deemed unconstitutional as well).
I agree that pedophiles are sick and twisted, and that's just it. These people are indeed SICK and need psychiatric help. In addition to this we actually need to ENFORCE and MONITOR convicted sex offenders - one of the huge reasons we have such a problem with sex offenders is because the ones that get back on the streets have just been in prison for a while, had NO rehabilitation whatsoever, have served their time and cannot be held any longer, and go back to doing what they're doing without being monitored.
We shouldn't go off and murdering these sick people simply because they're sick. Yes, they're terrible, but come on - we're Americans (for the most part). Rape and Molestation is worse than murder and should be look as such, reason cause the victim must live his/her life reliving that shit over and over, only a select few ever really get past it. Example my sister told me if she was ever raped she would end her own life. Think about the mental problem that remain after the acutal action took place. Murders, they kill, and pain is over for the victim. You murder someone in cold blood, a fit of rage, planed or spur of the moment, you should be killed and i dont mean lethal injection either i mean killed hanged, shot, shocked, anything to fit the crime, it shouldn't painless with the pain that they caused others, think of the heartless evil sack of shit that walk on this earth and then your gonna give then a low pain way of dying, yes lethal injection is not painless and its far from it. Life in prison shouldn't be an option, why so they can live there life while hard working people pay there bill, if life in prison is the way they should be put to work so they can pay it off or there family can bare the debt or they can be executed! Yeah, I reckon Castration for paedophiles would be a good way to go. However, like the death penalty it still won't be a deterrant and people will still be paedophiles. I doubt that those types of people actually think before the do what they do.

The problem with the death penalty is that we are not yet at a stage when we can have absolutely flawless definitive evidence that someone is guilty of a committing a murder. Until we reach a point where we can prove without a shred of doubt that someone is guilty via DNA evidence, mindreading, etc., we are susceptible to putting an innocent man to death, which is totally unacceptable. Rape and molestation, regardless of the emotional fragility of the victim, are not more severe than murder in the eyes of the law. End of story. There are a multitude of things that may cause just as severe emotional damage as molestation, and most are not even crimes. Emotional damage to the victim is not grounds for increasing the sentence of the criminal.
Doubling the punishment for a specific class of individuals, ie. priests, is contrary to the spirit and principles of the United States justice system.
Convicted sex offenders should recieve fair sentence times in prison. In the same vein, I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with "Megan's Law" but that, also, is a grave miscarriage of justice stemming from irrational paranoia and hatred towards pedophiles and the like. Megan's Law, in most states, dictates that a released sex offender must notify the local police department of his presence, who will in turn notify local schools and parents. So effectively, it's an organized, government effort to ostracize sex offenders. Ridiculous.
