When I first got the game, I used to be one of the first to finish loading/verifying and get into the game. In the past month, i have spent soooo much time in the verifying part. I'm now usually one of the last to load up. What's up? Am I doing something different? How can I improve my load time? Don't think the cpu specs are problem cause those are solid...
check your internet connection and info. see how many packets you are sending and receiving, for one.
graphics shouldn't really have much say in this, correct me, anyone, if i am wrong.
and also (a given), minimize programs. but most likely all you have running is BF2 and few other necessary things. i know that running other programs other than the videogame being played is ridiculous. let's face it, no gamer really does that.
other than that, i don't know. i really can't say much to help. sorry.

same problem here. Defrag helped a little, My theory is "now that game has been out for awhile and the price has come down, low lifes can afford it. Kerry Edwards supporters are now jamming up servers with there (dial up) connections"
Cant help ya on this, but why did you post in BF2s.com : Help, i thought this was for ppl that needed help with this site?
Good call dan500! Finally someone who can read!
my bad! posted in wrong place:(
but my load time is still soooo long! and i'm now one of the last to get in the game. its gotten so that i now only look for servers that play three rounds per map so that i don't have to reload everygame or everyother game.

"low lifes"? I hope you have specific people in mind, not just anyone who can't afford $50 whenever they need a giggle.Horseman 77 wrote:

On topic:
-not graphics (Fraps will show that the game drops to 0-2 fps during the verify stage)
-defrag always helps gaming
-don't run other programs
-check your internet connection:
--cable/DSL: you might be playing during peak hours, less bandwidth
--56k: well.......
--If you use XP Pro, you're NOT using your max possible bandwidth. "Open the Pipe": Start->Run->gpedit.msc Go to Local Computer Policy->Computer Configuraton->Administrative Templates->Network->QoS Packet Scheduler In the right pane, select Limit Reservable Bandwidth. In the new window, select Enabled and set a lower number than the default 20% (the lower, the better )
-And if all else fails O/C like crazy!!!! (at least it'll make you feel better about your system)

I find the biggest problem with bf2 and most games today is memory. Tweaking your swapspace or adding new memory seems to fix most problems

Yeah, I forgot to talk about memory, thanks.
