i don't know how this map will look like but i expect sth. like karkand or more like sharqi ... so of course its going to be popular ... and maybe we get 3 types of this map - not like wake with only 4 64-version
and maybe the "karkand-only" has finished ....

Impossible to tell without playing it atleast 10 rounds. I'm excited about a free map though, keep'em coming.
Will patch 1.31 fix the problems 1.3 brought about?
Yes. Its supposedly not going to have any vehicles in which even the DICE Colin is frowning upon. I think It should model Night Flight, to where it has vehicles but not anything that'll rip infantry apart, AT class would still be used but not as much. Take Warlord for instance, where is the place most people want to have a good time? The Palace. On Karkand? The Hotel. Why? Because they are both enclosed and it can be either defend and attacked without one side constantly winning... Okay and points dammit! But at any rate those of you who have played Ghost Town, Night Flight, Leviathan, Warlord, Sharqi, Mashtuur and Mass are mainly infantry based anyway-- with a couple tking chopper whores at best.
Why I think it's gonna be great? It's time. It's time for Karkand to fall. Its time for the aircraft to be eliminated. It's time for BF2 to be seek and destroy, capturing flags on foot. It's time for another map . Its time for infantry based, we've had EF/SF/AF , now we need INF . Some places tanks and aircraft cant' get to, and I was wondering about an "indoor" battle... Can't take a tank into small streets. But BF2 is all about vehicles and some people will hate it, but I think majority of the people play Karkand because of the compactness in the first flag, then comes the tanks/apcs to make dust as they go to their parking space by the spawns.

Most players are afraid to try new maps...
U will still have a lot of the top players karkand whoring. If they can manage 3000 rounds untouched on Karkand and still play it and not be bored completely stiff, I dont see karkand dying off. Would be nice though.
karkand is worse then CS_siege was when it came out. i swear to god everyone played that level for at least a year straight. back in the day

I have no doubt R2J is gonna be a popular map since it's supposed to be a new Karkand.
But how popular, well we'll just have to wait and see.

of course it's better than karkand, everything is, but it's still got warlord and Mass destruction to beat.
