My reference was from the Marvel point of view on the Asgardians. They're not gods in the Marvel Universe. They're just another race of beings. An albeit long lived and extremely powerful race of beings. The creator of Thanos may have had some origins in Greek mythology. And the others are just more creations from the mind of Stan Lee.
