(Geniune story)
On saturday, I was playing BF2 and was happily firing my trusty weapon at someone when I heard a very loud aeroplane engine over head. I could tell it was low and big just from the intense rumble. So I quickly looked out my window and saw a set of fighter planes flying behind and following a Boeing 747! Crap I shouted (or words to that effect), and quickly went prone. I crawled over to the telephone and got ready to phone for back up but I realised it might be useful to check out the TV first. Only, then did I realise it was the local airshow for the Queen's birthday celebrations.

The moral of this story? If you're stoned, don't play BF2; it will mess with your mind maaan!

Thats great! I live in Texas and pretty often we have Apaches flying overhead probably heading to "excort" our C.E.O. of the nation around, more often than not my roommate and i get all excited yelling "Hostile slick inbound!" We get quite a few laughs out of it.

Actually, most of the apaches you see are headed to Hood to refuel if I'm remembering correctly. (SA to Killeen are old proving grounds for me) Currently, I reside on the outer landing circle of Ellington field (south Houston). My day is spent hearing t38s, f16s, f15s and your occasional c5 and c130 take off. We get our fair share of apaches coming in, as well as lifeflight and crew retreval helo's headed towards the oil rigs in the gulf.

Every so often, we get a good airshow, complete with b1b and b2 flyby. The falcons usually show up, but if the ceiling isn't high enough, the show is cancelled. My house has a 2nd story roof view of the airshow. If you just enjoy watching, then it's great. If you want to feel the heat and fury of the sim bomb runs (demo charges set to go off as the planes make "runs" on the airbase) then it's better to pay yer $15 and go to the runways. Then you are close enough to almost touch the GAU-8 barrel.

Ok cool yeah we always thought they where escorting the pres. when hes in crawford or something. Thats cool though we see 'em quite a bit. One time an apache had to do an emergency landing just off the side of MOPAC highway in Austin. It was pretty neat got to drive past it all up close. Although if it happened now I'd probly freak out an start hauling ass to get away from the gunner! Jk btw
