I have been playing BF2 for about a year now with no problems with CTD issues. All of a sudden, a few days ago, BF2 stops working. When I try to startup the game, the screen flickers black for a few seconds and then crashes back to the desktop. This problem started happening by itself. I had done absolutely nothing to my computer between the time it worked last, and the time the problem started happening. So I put a minimal effort in to fix it but I get nothing. So I completely reformat my hard drive and do a fresh XP install and install the game and neccessary drivers. The game works for about a day, but then the same thing happens- I get CTD upon startup after doing absolutely nothing to my computer. I played BF2, let the comp sleep for a while, and when I tried to play again, I got the problem. With way too many hours in to this problem, I was hoping someone else might have some insight. Here's what I've done: I've installed newest drivers for all of my hardware in the comp. I've even tried installing older versions for my video card with no luck. I've reinstalled the game many times. The problem happens when I first install the game, as well as when I install the latest patch. I've tried a manual uninstall on the game where I deleted registry keys and such. I tried setting AGP from 8x down to 4x. I've tried deleting the Battlefield 2 folder from my documents. I've tried changing the resolution in the video.con settings. I've tried renaming the movie folder to skip the intro movie. I've tried every idea that I've seen from searching google. Any help or ideas would be appreciated.
