As it seems to be the way by reading the forums, many peeps tend to leave three basic badges to last, Explosives, Pistol & Knife. Personally I'd moved on to getting several Vet badges without filling these basics.  However, playing on the wrong maps & wrong amount of peeps meant I really took a stats hit when going for explosives but I finally got it, in fact when playing 64 Karkand with a low amount of players, using the 'JihadJeeping' method I got it in about 5 minutes, so thanks for the advice.  Indeed, in this setting I even managed to avoid too many suicides finishing the round 4th.  Previously I'd been getting about a -38 score each round and no badge.

The basic pistol badge was very easy, got it first time I tried, in fact in total my stats say I only have 6 pistol kills, yet I can't get this damn knife badge!  In fact I can't even get close enough to the enemy to use a knife, at least not seven times in a round.  I'm once again trying for low populated Karkand servers and giving some noobs some real easy kills as I try to knife them!

I'm sure there are some real knife experts on the fourm, in fact I've seen the screen shots!  I'd like to know how you got your badge or how you'd go about it if you had to do it again.  Is it best to run around using the knife all the time or would you just take it out when you had the chance using other weapons.  Hang around spawn points?

I've done a search but not much helped, I could really do with some tips or just encouragement, has anyone else suffered this frustration? I'm so bad with a knife I can't get seven kills simply on SP easy!

Generally speaking u should only pull out your knife and pistol when u really need them.

Getting 7 IAR is tough, though. Then u have to recon getting fragged a lot, like 5 times for each knife kill.

If u play only knife/pistol for a while u get into it, and your skills increase. Then it's badge time.

Crowded Karkand and Mashuur are knife/pistol maps.

I got my veteran pistol and knife badges in the first round I tried to get em in. Got pistol @ karkand and knife @ sharqi. Pistol is easy really. Just walk around with your pistol and hit the dirt whenever a enemy is close by (dont try sniping).

Knife award whas really easy actually. Especially on sharqi. Just look @ your UAV for enemy's near you . But my real secret is this... Go to the sniper spots *on roofs, not the crane* I got like 5 knife kills from careless snipers. There both rather easy. Now if you will excuse me, I gotta get my basic aviator, altough im a n00b @ flying.

A bunch of us from the same team joined a server one night, it was a 16 man server and the 6 of us filled it up. after a couple rounds our squads were broken up by people leaving and the server balancing out. Eventually we found ourselves with 3 on each side. Since we couldnt all play as a squad we all played for our knife badge instead. We didnt stat pad, we actually played, only a couple of us managed to get a badge that night. Myself being one of them. We managed to play a whole round without getting shot, we picked a desinated spot off in east boo-foo and did our thing.

Just run through Karkand as a Medic so you can heal yourself after every attempt/kill prefreably as USMC and knife everyone you can.  Don't use anything but the knife or you probably won't get it. try for the alleyways first then look for camping snipers that didn't bother with claymore traps, and of course the enemy commander is always good for a few kills if you can find them.

Well for the pistol badge I got it from the first time trying, as a sniper in Karkland. Drastically reducing your enemy’s health, and finishing the kill by switching to pistol. The first six in view where enough, one was either a headshot or already dying, because there was nothing left to finish with my pistol.

@ Anks
For the knife badge, combine a huge city map (a full one, not 20 on 64) with being a medic, keep your knife at hand and keep going through the narrow alleys, it works as a charm.
Oh yeah one little hint, it helps if you can correctly estimate your distance for striking the killer blow, while jumping/running/walking/prone. A friend of me and myself, late at night, ended up on a desolate server with no other players. So we both switched to medic and started to knive/revive each other on the US Essex main deck. Because there were not enough players, no stats were recorded, but we could gain some experience. 2 hours of non-recorded pure fun while ROFLMAO or more like ROFL and getting my ass knifed...

Cheers,

R

Got my basic knife this afternoon on karkland.  I just ran around with my knife out with the uav over me so I could see which way the enemy was looking.  When they looked away from me I sprinted towards them and went prone.   I died a few times but was able to get the badge in the first round I played.

Got my vet knife last night playing Karkand too.

Its difficult but I did it on a 64 server as a US Medic.  Following other peoples suggestions of risking it by running around with the knife out all the time I managed to get it quite quickly.

If you only pull the knife out occasionally you might find yourself coming to the end of the game just needing one more kill and pulling your hair out!

There has been some good advice so far so try out our suggestions and see if it works for you, good luck!

Another tip is when you look at the UAV and you see a guy coming your way hide somewhere so he won't see you and when he passes you run up from behind and knife!  Best using a medic or Spec Ops cause they have high endurance so you can run up and catch up to them.
