Looking at replacing my optical cordless mouse (MX500) with a higher resolution mouse like a Razor or the following Saitek:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6826163105

The Saitek gets pretty good reviews AND is extremely affordable.....

I have heard a lot about the Razor as well....but if this does the same thing.....

Anyone had any experiance with these?  Are the higher res. ones worth it?

I wonder if there is any way to click DOWN on the resolution button, and FIRE the bullet on the "up" click?  This way you can quickly acquire the target....click down on the high res button to "fine tune" your head shot, and release the button to fire the gun (without clicking another button)....quicker and easier....

the G7 is good only if you want wireless and to change the batteries -- the only reason I won't get it.

I have a Logitech MX700 Wireless and it comes with a charger.  I rarely if ever have issues with dead batteries.  I wouldn't buy a wireless though unless it came with a charger.  I just set it right in the charger base each time I'm doing using the computer and one full charge will last for days.

I would like to know others opinions on whether the new "laser" mice are worth upgrading too.  Is there really a big difference between the the regular optical one like I have and these new laser ones?  Sorry for the low tech description.

Having a battery is still a pain the ass.

But it takes less than a few seconds to change them, you can do it while flying. Just press the button on the bottom of the G7, it ejects and slide the new one in. nice and quick

Just bought a G5 today, what resolutions should I be using when?

Is it high res for sniping etc, low res for tanks n stuff?

Also, what are your thoughts on what weights to use?

Can someone point me right please?

it would kill me to lose the extra side button on my mouse if i went to a g5, but i am looking at the mx518 for the sensitivity changing option

I just noticed that....I currently use an MX700....and it has 2 buttons on for my thumb (I use one to croutch, one to prone) - the G5 only has one....so I am reconsidering....

I am surprised no one has said anything about the RAZOR mice?

that mx518 looks sweet....not too expensive either....

MX518 is an optical mouse not a laser one, I have both and prefer the G5, the MX-518 is maxed at 1600dpi and doesn't have the cool resolution meter on the mouse. you have to see where you set the resolution in the control software...

I also have a razor "Boomslang 2000 first edition" it is a great 2000dpi ball mouse , but it is getting toward retirement..I am going to replace it with a G5 when it goes....

OK - i didn't know there was a difference between laser and optical....ok, will look for laser.

The only thing I don't love about the G5 is the lack of the 2 buttons on the thumb side......any other suggestions?  I think the most of the Razor's have the 2 buttons, but have not heard many people recommend.....

Okay, had my first play with the new G5 last night and it takes some getting used to.

The one thing I would say, if you are considering getting this mouse is buy a good mouse mat to accompany it.

Seems like a good mouse, I say go with it. As previously stated, get a decent mouse mat to go with it though. You'll thank me in the long run.

It's a lot of money to compromise with. Which is most important to you, that extra button, or being able to change you res on the fly?

I've yet to test out the on the fly res changing so I can't really help. It seems like a good thing, and seeing as I'm a bit of a tank whore, I'll probably use it but I can't really offer any more help.

Good luck with your choice and let us know how you get on.
