Good job, man!  Pretty soon those 2 days will be 2 weeks and so on and so forth.  I quit about 3 years ago (after smoking for about 12 years).  It's for sure all in your head and you will only quit if you are really ready.  About 3 months into it you won't even want one anymore.  Change up your routine a bit.  A new routine with no smokes becomes an old routine with no smokes.  Good luck!!

fat free hard candies ( i preferred jolly ranchers as opposed to overpowering sickening sweet mints) will help with the physical aspects of the habit.......

when i was working in a shop we would all buy a "shop pack" every once in a while, if someone ran out they could grab one til they got to the store at lunch, I had quit buying packs for 3 days and needed to hit the gas station on the way home, but since i was fiending hard I knew I would end up buying another, then I saw the shop pack and popped a quick smoke to hold me over so I could resist the temptation at the store, turns out the "shop pack" had been opened 2 weeks prior and was stale, in addition to being cheap ass ghetto smokes in the first place, 3 puffs in I was green and sick to my stomach, haven't touched a smoke since (8 years i think)
Stale cigarettes?  What kind of wierd manufacturing process do you have over there?  Tobacco is essentially the stale leaves of a tobacco plant. I don't understand how they can "go off"

Go man. Ive been off them 5 years now, best thing Ive ever done. You should go cold turkey and not even one drag of a cig, or you are on the slippy slope back to addiction. When you really need a cig, go outside and run until you are fucked. Worked 4 me.

I smoked for about 8 years, I've given up for 3... I do have the odd toke (literally one or two) on a cigarette on very rare occasions (e.g. 3 or 4 times a year), but usually when I'm really pissed and stuck in a pub next to 10 people smoking... not in the slight bit interested in taking it up again, and wouldn't pay the stupid prices that they've gone up to anyway...

I used the nicotine inhaler thing... in the UK you can get a prescription from the doctor and they are only £6 for a big pack instead of £30.  I'd recommend it to people who are in the habit of having a cigarette in their hand the whole time, keeps your fingers busy unlike the patch.

If anything else fails try homemade acupuncture
insert a needle deep in flesh - pain goes in - need for smoking goes out....<repeat>
but seriously if you can try to stay away from people who smoke and places where people smoke

good luck and remember that you can do it ! <just use the force Luke >......<on others>....

I smoked for 14 years (I am 29 now, so almost half of my life was spent smoking). I quit roughly 6 months ago (just before New Years).

My best tips are thus:

If you have friends that smoke, get them to quit too, or don't hang around them.

Don't drink while you are trying to quit (easiest way to start again is when you are drunk).

Cold turkey is the way to go.

30 years and I just put em down. You can do it if you want to bad enough. It will be a year in 2 weeks, will never  smoke 'tabackey' again. Them things stink, now.

Keep at it man!!  I quit cold turkey from a pack a day (Camel Wide).  After two weeks the anger diminishes to a mild roar.  After 2 months, the smell becomes disgusting.  After 8 years, the money saved and the health regained is priceless.

Good call.

When I quit, I discovered a great way to deal with cravings involved simply waiting until I had forgotten about them. That's all there was to it. Give it 5 mins and you are thinking about something else or doing something else, and you have forgotten about the craving. Some people decide to go get something to eat instead of a smoke, be mindful if you end up doing that, for obvious reasons.

Also, be careful of the "just a couple of puffs", that turns into "just 1 cig", to "just a couple of cigs", because before you know it, your hooked again. Some people can probably handle the occasional cig, but if you have been a heavy smoker before, it's likely you will become addicted again quite easily.

I only ever smoked weed but i did it for about twelve years before i quit.i quit cos my get up and go-got up and went. i felt that i was not only quitting the tobacco but the drug too. i did it by thinking about what it was doing to me and how much money it cost me.the more i thought about it the more pissed off i got and i ended up hating what it was doing to me and i just held on to the hate and remembered it when i was craving. so i spose it was hate that got me through. just try and stay logical.it is one of the hardest things you will ever do.i still have relapses sometimes,it depends on the people i see but i dont beat myself up about it,i just remember how i was before...good luck mate,we are all willing you on!!

Last time I tried quitting I was a psychological wreck.  I was even dreaming of cigarettes.  Total madness.

What's worse is smoking is so disgusting.  I'm getting ready to move and have taken down some pictures from the walls in the living room, and you can see what the white paint used to look like.  Nasty.

Cold turkey. That's the way to do it.

It actually only takes 48hrs to get over the nicotine adiction. The rest is breaking the habbit. So you're past the worst of it.
