It isn't one card.  That's the way I see it.  Stacking two of the same card together and taking some of the ports and connectors off of them and screwing them together doesn't in any way make it one card.

Awesome card.  They put it around equal to two 7900GTs in SLI, or a good performance increase over a 7900GTX.

Doesnt matter if its one or six cards stacked together, it takes one INTERFACE.   Not everyone has an SLI board, and those that dont will definetly love the performance of the card.

If they just would allow Quad SLI  w/ it to end users....

I think it will since they might have a Quad SLI version for it

newegg has 8 available,

I have three questions,

1. With two cards you only get two DVI ports?  Instead of 4?

2. Two cards only use one 6-PIN power connector?

3. Should you only buy this card if you don't have a SLI capable mobo?  Cause, buying two 7900GT's is cheaper.

eVGA Geforce 7900GT CO 256-P2-N563-AX Video Card - $259.99 x 2 = $519.98

eVGA Geforce 7950GX2 01G-P2-N592-AX Dual GPU Video Card - $649.99

Also, I bet these cards will overheat that close together, the cooling doesn't look that great.

7950, sadly (according to everything I've read), is a single-card solution. No proprietary quad SLI for you.

o does the introduction of the GeForce 7950 GX2 mean that Quad SLI is coming to the mainstream enthusiast? Unfortunately the answer is no - at least, not yet. Nvidia feels that Quad SLI is still too complex a product to release to the public without the assistance of trained professional system integrators. To prove the point that this will be temporary, the GeForce 7950 GX2 has a single SLI bridge but we will not see retail support until Nvidia provides a driver that enables it. Until such time as Quad SLI is supported, this card is being positioned by Nvidia as the fastest single PCI Express solution on the market.

Here is a nice review for this card. I guess, for me, having my 7900gtx crap out on me is a blessing in disguise. This card seems to really flex its muscles at higher resolutions with AA enabled. Perfect for me. Definatly not worth it for anyone playing under 1600x1200.

Evgas website list quad SLI as a definate for the future. A bright one indeed.

I just wish that this technology would take a giant leap forward and stop for a while so I can stop buying shit for marginal gains in performance.

Either way I'm in on this card and I'll let you know how it works out. Just gotta wait for my RMA to clear and I'll be ordering this week.

Thank you 908741059871059781 for the link to anandtech!

This card looks pretty sweet.  Maybe I'll get it in 6 months when the price is hopefully more reasonable ;D

Yes, but personally, I'm all about waiting for some kind of killer, loss-leader type of sale (black friday, memorial day, etc..) and getting something with a good price to performance ratio   I'm ritch, but that doesn't mean I want to piss money away for less-matured and buggier products

Just my .02c

but that would be like buying a 6 series card now. Everything in tech progresses so fast that it is hard to stay on top. But to buy an outdated card does not make a lot of sense unless you are on a very tight budget. You will regret it later (i mean as soon as dx 10 titels come out you are going to kick yourself)

well from computex the DX10 cards are power hungry monsters... 300 watt for a card (not like 300w requirement) card uses 300 watts... heard theyre also VERY hot

i'm sure thats only for the more powerful versions (even todays cards are not so far away from 300W). the less powerful versions will sure need less power

well, it can still last u about another year u dont really need DX10 cards since the game that would support it will be out in another year... still a long time

well it should last longer than that.
you dont get rich by buying a new pc (a new gfx needs a new processor which needs a new mobo, which requires new ram....) every 6 months.
and i want to start to live my own life and stand on my own feet (i know that sound soppy, but i want to really move out (well i already away during the week) when i turn 18 in half a year)
