This may seem like a stupid question (as I don't buy mobo's with onboard graphics) but don't you need to disable the onboard graphics in the bios when you add a standard graphics card to avoid hardware conflicts/issues & free up system resources??
I had to disable the onboard sound on my mobo (Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe) & removed the drivers for it, when I added a SB Audigy card recently!

Just a thought, might be worth a look!!??

i get this problem sometimes but I'm using a nividia 5700Le, i have to return to desktop and then back into game to get rid of it very annoying if your flying.
How does that even handle BF2? My FX5900 broke a sweat on mostly Lows.
i just upgraded my pc, but before i ran bf2 on a fx5200 (256 megs mem) all on low at acceptible fps (30ish, except iron gator & warlord)

well if the card is new (you didnt overclock right?, temps are OK?) i would rma the card. Such problems usually only appear if the card is oced too far, it runs too hot or is plain broken.

Unfortunately I can't really help you with that as I don't have onboard graphics myself!

What's the mobo you are using & is there any information on the manufacture's website or in the manual???

I have an n-Force4 GPU built in to my mobo and a 6600GT and I didn't have to do anything other than install the drivers for the 6600 for it to become the default GPU.

The only thing I can suggest is go into your hardware manager and click on display adaptors and then disable the onboard one, then go to nVidia's website and download the new drivers that are out but do not install them straight away.

Before you install them, go into Add/remove programs in the control panel and remove the old nVidia drivers first, then only after you have removed the old drivers then you can safely install the new ones.

i run a 6600 GT on mostly high settings. I've had no problems since I've got it.
and my brother only runs 1 GB with a 6600GT too.. settings same as me.. no problems whatsoever..  thre's got to be something more to it..

Im running dual 6600 gts in SLI set to medium and no problems but to answer your Q about disabling the onboard there should be an option in your bios to disable it, you may try to disable it in your device manager as well but when you installed the add on card it should have given you the option to choose which card you want to use and automatically disable the other, and only the board's manufacture can replace the onboard video card as its a built in piece of hardware. I suggest staying away from any Mother board that has onboard Video cards
