The crashing to desktop problem when trying to click "join game" has very little to do with patch 1.3, I used the fix Lt. Garbo found, and it hasn't crashed since... (search for crash to desktop fix no kidding)

Here's a bug I hadn't experienced before:

I was running down the cargo bay on Iron Gator and suddenly I teleported to the top deck where the chopper spawns.

edit:

also, you can accept squad invites while dead, but you won't be joined to the squad, even when you respawn... can be annoying if it's a locked squad and the battle is too intense to type a message asking for a reinvite... plus the inconvience for the person who invited you.  It should let you join squads when dead like it does at the start of the round but just not let you spawn until at least one spawn at a flag, IMO.

1. click on 'join game' crashes to desktop. this must have happened to me 10+ times today. Never happened before i installed 1.3. All drivers etc are up to date and direct x.
2. There is a problem with my connection. Again, this happened 10+ times today.
3. Server crashes/drops clients often and randomly.!
4. Verifying client data taking over 3minutes.
5. There is a problem with my connection error happening very frequently.
6. "Unloading resources" takes up to or over 5 minutes for me.
7. Clicking "Join Game" causes me to crash to desktop.
8. Non-responsive keys followed by the message: "There's a problem with your connection"
9. Fluctuating ping 36 -> 450 -> back to 40
10. Red name bug still existent.  Blue name bug is occurring as well.
11. When joining a server with reserved slots, first I connect and when I am not allowed to join, BF2 crashes to Windows desktop in stead of a normal message that the server is full.

I am so pissed off.I played the game for 4 hrs last night,well I loaded the game for 3 and a half hours and played for half an hour .Goddam thing kept crashing to desktop when it was loaded and verified,or sometimes the server would just kick me after 5-10mins.Not only that my ping would go from 40 to 200 every 5-10 secs.The thing was perfect until i loaded patch 1.3.

I am so F"$KING MAD.

For me BF2 is just not playable at the moment... I have CTF and "conection to server lost" every 20 minutes... It's a shame for a 50$ game... plus SF... plus EF...plus AF.

EA must move fast now or people will find another game soon.

EA please forget about 2142 and fix everything in BF2 first and then improve it...

2142 can wait til 2008...

Anyone notice that the "problem with your connection" happens when the server runs a banner in the top left?  I was playing Addicted to Games Ghost Town and every time they have their server advertisement in the upper left, I crashed.

I experienced (besides those common CTD problems n bugs) that the AH-1Z on Dragon Valley 32 is somehow broken. Really hard to fly, the steering doesnt work properly - as if i had a lag all the time. But my latency was constant at ~28 and the Black Hawk standing nearby worked properly...

I have just come back to BF2 after a year away from it due to the frustration of bunny hoppers and the fact that anti tank trooper can not destroy APCs in one shot as they would in real life, even choppers survive and thats total rubbish!! anti tank still a major issue far as I'm concerned but glad the bunny hopping has been stopped!

Anyway, before downloading the 1.3 patch I played just the bog standard game for a couple of days  (yes there are servers out there still running the original version!!) and I had no problems what so ever with CTD or connection problems or the game just freezing. After installing the 1.3 patch I have had some of the problems mentioned. not like some of you guys, but then I don't play as often as I would like. Not had any problems with vehicles thankfully.

I don't see the problems being anything to do with punkbuster or what drivers you have installed (read a couple of threads where people have installed latest patches etc, reinstalled the game etc and STILL have these problems). I believe its down to this damn patch and I (as do we all I bet )wish EA would sort this out ASAP!

PS being punished for team killing while in a plane on a bombing run should not be allowed!! how the hell do you spot your teammates when coming in hot! sorry, wouldn't happen in the real world as we all know

Happens quite frequently to me,

Joining game all controlls are erased for everything. When this happens I check the game control and everyhitng is gone.

To fix this I simply clicked "Set to Default"

Not a huge deal but extermly annoying because it will do it randomly to you in game. Has never done it sence the 1.3 patch.

FIX the hotel glitch on Karkand....extermly annoying glitch. I think everone knows what im talking about....

Incredibly Slow.  I have never had a single problem before the last patch.  Now my Comp. Crashes/Freezes/looses connection every 5-20 minutes.  Every other game I play I get kicked for my ping when that nnever happend before.  This was the BEST game I have ever played until the 1.3 patch.  Now I cannot play it at all until the next patch.

All the things what you guys have and something different.

1. I cant join/create  a squad.I ahve to open that window 2-3 times to let me join.
2. Wehn i try to search servers for map like "Ghost Town" and i click updating list i get the whole list again.
If i click again i get the servers witht his map.
3. Destkop crash and "There is a problem with your connection" is a daily thing.Yesterday i had 2 desktopcrashes and 3 lost connection to server in 2 hours.Its pretty anoying !!!
4. I SAY NO FOR BF 2142 !!!

I've only had it crash to desktop twice.
Once in getting into a game while loading and one right in the middle of playing after two hours
My problem that seems hasn't been listed is on missiles from jets and anti tanks seem to go through things. For instance I'm flying behind this guy and he's going straight and all 6 missiles go right through the jet and then manage to fine a friendly helicopter and an enemy one and blow up the pair of them ( thought missiles couldn't lock onto team mates anymore, guess not) then I'm an anti tank and a humvee is driving towards me so I proceed to shoot it and the rocket goes right through the guy jumps into the gun before I get another one off and processeds to gun me down. (this has happened to me countless times) Anyone else with these problems?

I know that alot of people are saying run low settings ect. but I run on all maxed and thats all I have problems with.
I have a:

3.6 dual core Pentium D 960 2x2mb cache
giga-byte GA-8NSLI- Quad Royal Motherboard
Dual channel PC 5400 4gb of memory
(2) 7950 GX2's for a quad SLI setup

Obviously, my main issues is "There is a problem with your connection" like everyone else.  But more frequently, I click on 'Join Game', i enter the map, and the first thing to pop up should be kit selection and spawn point map right?  Well, I get neither.  For instance, if I play Sharqhi, all I stare at is the big TV tower, while I can see all the kill messages, chat, squad/team commands, etc going on.   Then I hit 'esc' to exit the map, and then that takes forever to get back to server select, but I believe that issue has been stated.

On topic, I find that the server only crashes when the game has actually started, so I'm guessing it's part of the feedback between server and account server.

Cool specs man.. perhaps that what everyone needs to do.. Buy a fat rig.. lol.

After reading some of the nice tips at this site.. yeah.. searched.. and found stuff that helped me out too. No more CTD, well sometimes hangs.. that is server related. The one thing that really was working on my machine was:

- remove auto join.
- full 1.3 install.
- had to recheck - hardware in audiosetting.

Hooraayy!

Hope that this will perhaps help others too..

No CTD in 24 hours!

Here's a particularly fucking annoying 'feature'... if the server (not client) crashes while you are typing a chat message, the ESC key doesn't let you cancel the message, and doesn't load the menu... so you have to sit for 2 minutes or whatever the excessively long timeout is before you can rejoin the freshly rebooted server.  And then it crashes again within a round... rrrgghh

now I have had the glitch where I killed someone who was enemy (sarge something), then he reappeared next to me in same team as me but had red over his head so I let him have it and got -9 points for it!!! wtf up with this game...ctd twice tonight, connection lost

read on some site round friends how the BF2142 vow less bugs than in BF2....think it would be good idea to take game back to original version and redo patch PROPERLY, is it that hard when your a massive company!! christ sake, I don't like seeing tanks float past me when the game or server hangs...

I dont seem to have too much of the trouble stated above....
However.
When i have teamspeak running BF2 completely loons out, and when i have WhatPulse running (keystroke logger) BF2 crashes significantly faster then usual.

Also sometimes i have this hang point in the game n the game just freezes for a minute and does something with my harddrive. But thats rare so i can live with that.

Non responsive keys/LMB,
Modified content warning everytime I try EF maps online,
Taking up to 4-5 minutes to load a level (Even on uber low settings),
Exit game? noooo, lets reset from BIOS....
Server connection about as stable as a disabled turkey riding a unicycle with a buckled wheel,
Server list shows servers with 0 ping, + no player names...
Momentary ultra laggy moments, always at the worst times,
Problems with spawn screen,
Problems standing up + moving around after being prone,
And people keep killing me!!!!

I refuse to call this a patch, it's a buggy feature upgrade.  With that said here is my list:

- Even with a clear line of sight I lose lock of Laser Guided missles in the bomber... usually right as I click fire.

- If a jeep/buggy is coming towards you and you fire an Eryx or similar AT round it usually goes right through.  The only time I have actually gotten a kill this way is by shoting to the outside and trying to loop the round back into the side of the jeep.  Very hard to do.  If I'm at the side and I shoot the jeep is often destroyed.  Collision Detection?

- Getting stuck in a squad.  You can't leave, you can't join another and even though the HUD plainly shows that you have a squad leader, you can't spawn on that player.  All throughout the game you constantly see "Player has left your squad" or "... has joined your squad".

- Login to BF2 takes a while and when finally in you have no unlocks.  The BFHQ shows your valid account but no unlocks.  Logging out and back in solves it but you usually lose your place in the squad.  When gaming with friends in the same squad this is a serious pain the ass.

- Jump into a TOW to take down a  tank and even though you click fire and hear the sound effect of a round leaving the weapon nothing happens except the TOW recycles.  Now by this time the tank/APC has heard the sound and comes up and kicks the shit out you.

- Stay prone for a while and you can't get out of it.  Takes 2 sometimes 3 seconds to get out of prone.  Even when raising to a knee first.

- Pressing your Run bind does nothing... press it again and it works?!?

- Other keys stop working ramdomly.  I have tried multiple keyboards as well.

- Medic revives a player and they "Zombie" around.  All character animation above the waist is lost.  Funny as hell though!

- And last but not Least (although not a bug... it is a problem) CARTILLERY!!
I have a fresh install and the full 1.3 "buggy feature upgrade" installed.  My settings have not changed since 1.2.

Sorry EA but I will never purchase another product you make....... bah, you probably don't even care.
