Not sure if this topic has been covered but here goes. Today I was playing the Special Ops kit. I don't remember the name of the Map. Anyways, I made my way over the the Enemies camp and destroyed their Artillery. I then hid behind  a tree awaiting them to fix it so I could destroy them again. I got tired of being demolished in the previous game by the Artillery. So, anyways I didn't see anyone but did see a supply drop land right near the artillery. Sure enough the Artillery fixed itsself. What kind of )@#*&$ is that? So, I destroyed it again and sure enough another supply drop came floating down and BAM the Artillery was fixed. Not sure if this is a BUG or if your suppose to be able to fix things with the Supply drop. Anyways, I thought it was sort of unrealistic to say the least.

that's a very common method of fixing commander goodies, especially when the enemy takes over a base such as strike at karkand.  if an engineer cant get there to fix it, then supplies will do that trick just as well, just kinda part of the game I guess, I know Ive always done that as a commander

No, no bug.
And it may be annoying, but I believe its a useful tool. Even more so when the commander cannot get anyone to repair the artillery.
But on the flip side of that, the commander is using the supply drop to repair the artillery, meaning anyone who makes a request for it is SOL. So you could keep the commander busy for a while trying to keep the artillery up.

Common practice.  However generally it's a bad idea for a commander to drop a crate of c4 to me after I used all I had blowing up his tools. I run over to the crate reload. drop some c4 on the arty, sat or uav by the crate then reload again before running away and blowing up the tool and the crate. Now I have enough c4 to blow up some more stuff. Repeat as needed until someone kills me.

I think its a great tool considering its hard to find a server where your squads listen to you anyway.

exactly my methodology, as well.  as long as the enemy commander keeps dropping supply crates, i keep blowing it back up.  in a way, it's almost like point farming...

Been on both sides of it. Sucks when your a commander and noone will repair anything and droping a cfrate just means your giving them more ammo to blow up the same thing again.  Ussually if I'm commander in that situation I'll try to kill the offending spec ops guy myself.

Not a bug. I use it all the time. I kind of laugh at the Commanders who DON'T KNOW how to do it. They are always bugging me to fix the arty and I always have to inform them, "1. I hardley ever be Engineer, 2. I'm sniping, 3. Just drop a suppy box on it." Then they usually miss with the Supply box and start whining again.

But I do like to get more C4 from the enemy supply box, put on c4 on the box, wait to get another C4. Step back a bit. Then BOOM!! Mate.Feed.Kill.Repeat  --  It's a fun work out!

I usually ask if anyone needs a supply drop before dropping to fix stuff.

LOL, who cares if the Commander keeps dropping a crate to repair his assets. If you're still alive, keep blowing it up! You get the points just the same, right? Besides, if you're the only one out there, you can resupply before you blow up his/her stuff again!

Better yet, what's even more fun, is blowing up the asset, laying down some more C4, and then waiting for that lone engineer to come and repair, and then BOOM! I know, ruthless and cruel, but fun all the same!

I agree that thats good practice, but not all commanders ask. Most freak because their artillery is down, and do a supply drop without asking.
But I agree, that a good commander could get the job done.

Haha n00b commanders.

Happened the other day.  He dropped it right next to his freshly blown to hell UAV trailer.  I ran over real quick, refueled my C4 supply, but I heard arty firing in the distance before I could blow things up again.  I ran the hell away and down comes artillery all over this smacktards own UAV trailer, not only blowing it to hell but taking the supply crate apart too while he's at it.  SO now I have 5 C4 to go blow up other stuff.

It was a fun match.  The enemy Jeeps were fun to blow up when there were like three guys riding in it.

I love waiting for the supply drops.  Keep in mind, it also stalls the reload time on his UAV and Scan (Arty too?  I dont remember on that one) when they are down.  So, realistically, you could rack up 3-5 points just blowing up his UAV/Scan/Potentially Arty until he can get one successful scan or UAV off.

lol. it doesn't STALL. it drops it all the way back to 0. Only for scan it drops back to around 50%.

Yup as commander i hunt down the spec op idiot. :p I try not to use my crates that way though... i can just engineer and wrench it a few times. no need to get it back to full health just up and workin
