What Makes a "Good" sniper?

Did a searfh and didnt find anything recent like ths.....

Ok, my first 20 or so hours iwth the kit I pretty much wasted... Spent alot of time in the streets, had terrible hiding spots and pretty much couldnt hit anything....

Over the last 40 hours I've gotten pretty good I think... Certainly not even close to the "Elite" ranks we have around here, but my K is now over 2, my accuraccy is close to 59% and I never Spam Claymores.... THey are primarily Personal Protection, and sometimes I'll drop one by a flag is FF is off....

SO what makes a "Good" sniper.... How Bout "Great"?

"Good" to me would be something like this....

K over 2:1 in bothe Kit and SR Catagories....
50-75% of your kit Kills are with Sniper Core weapons (SR & Claymores)
but less than 10% are Claymores....
Accuracy over 50%

Check..... ANd if someone gets me... I usually make it my mission to get em back....

Check again... I very rarely stay in one position for more than 2-3 Kills... Unless I'm Commanding and have one of my sweet protected positions.

Fromthe Comments above, I'd think My Self proclaimed "I thinkI'm a good Sniper" may be premature... What should I work on?

A good sniper is someone who alters there sniper spot but doesn't go knifing or claymore spamming but uses them to protect himself against threats. He must also spot the enemy for other players to watch out for and he must protect his team mates by killing people who are posing as a threat to the team.

Zeon hit it right on the head there. Spot the enemy, especially if you see vehicles rolling towards infantry. The warning is definately appreciated at least on my end, and I'll be extra sure to return the favour/cover the sniper's butt if and when they need it.

exactly what zeon said...IMO it also includes knowing the maps inside and out, have a routine of spots that you rotate through if/after you get killed in one spot. if your area gets taken over and you dont even realize it, take it back when you thinks its clear to. and spot, spot, spot!!! ive been in games where the commander doesnt spot shit so you dont know where anything is unless theres a uav overhead... it really helps everyone out by spotting things out and throw in an "enemy boat spotted" every now and again lol, everyone gets a kick outta that. also, this may be just me but work at mastering one map at a time, find a 24/7 server that runs one map the whole time....it gets old after 15 rounds of the same map but it helps you learn that map better.

ii agree and dissagree with ur stats for good... they make sense... but if u have ben sniping a while you realize those aren't the most important things... reaction time, ability to hit lead shots , ability to snipe distance. my stats aren't that high, mostly due to the levels i play (due to server rotation on my clan) but after seeing my movie some have told me im better than nyte at making a shot... There is a difference between being a sniper, and sniping with your rifle... when im serious, take more mid range shots, and don't go for crazy risks that are like 1/4 1/5 chance im close to 70- 75% if i play sharqi wake, karkand, and mashter... im well above 2.0 on my k/d... but right now im clost ot .9 because of maps like cleansweep... and dalian, and dragon valley... To see how good a sniper is... watch a video..

there's an easy way to find out if you are good, go on unranked infantry server where the pros are playing (I'm talking about utopianer, catch, gamepoínt online, begrip, lehnitz). if you get a K-D Ratio better then 1.00 then you are really really good.

and of course, if you have fun with sniping then you are a good sniper, no matter your stats or what other people might say.

This man is an amazing sniper, I've seen his videos. Thing is, if you've been sniping since the start, you will have low accuracy and a lower KDR. This is a game, it's not about waiting for 20 minutes to line up a shot, it's about helping your team by taking down as many people as you can and spotting when you can.
Also, I will stay in a spot for a long time if I'm killing lots of enemies, even if they know where I'm at, because I'm the sniper and I should get them before they get me. I played today for the first time in a while and was impressed by my own sniping.
Also good view distances help, like my 900m on dalian

Play to win, don't play for stats.

If I gave a rat's ass about my stats, I would have 80% accuracy and 20 KDR with sniper rifle but 0.5 W/L.

But instead I have 60% accuracy and 3.00 KDR with sniper with 1.35 W/L which in my opinion matters more.

Well, I guess I'll just have to get Fraps finally and Make a video....... One thing that bugs me about all the Sniper videos out there is that you never really know how many rounds it took em to get all those shots..... I think I'll just go for it in 2 consecutive rounds on my favorite Ghost Town server..... That way I'll get both sides and should have 30-40 kills.... I'll trim down the time between shots so it isnt an hour long of course...

I do have Fun with it...... and Find artillery going after me pretty often... Which I take as a huge compliment for the commander to want to take out lille ole' me on a 32 man server thats packed......
