I haven't tried them on BF2 yet but I will as soon as I get home will post an update about the changes.

Here is my system specs so people can evaluate the change.

CPU: Intel Pentium D 830 3.ghz
Mobo: ASUS P5ND2 SLI
RAM: 2 x 1 GB Mushkin Dual Channel DDR667
Video: 2 Nvidia 7800 GT / BFG7800 GT 425mzh and EVGA 7800GT 475ghz
Power Supply: Antec True Power II 550w SLI certified
Drivers: 84.21
3dMark06: ? I will update this when I get home.
BF2 Settings: 1152 x 768 80 refresh everything else on max settings.

Currently I get around 80-90 when nothing is going on running the 84.21 drivers or when I am flying, and the lowest I have seen it go was around 44 in heavy combat.

i get around 70~80 in combat at the very least, usually idles around 130~200 (take frame capping off ofc)
SLi'd 7800GT's also
using 87.25 beta driver currently

if you see a significant increase with the 9 series driver i'll try it

I have a 6600GT, would these drivers be combatable with my video card?
I just don't want to get the wrong ones and totally fuck it all up.

I just checked the release notes that I attatched to my post...and yes your card is deffinately supported on this list.  Remember they are official beta drivers from Nvidia.  So everycard should work just fine.

After I have installed the game I have noticed a difference in BF2 but not as in a matter of FPS.  Everything seems to be a lot smoother and more fluid now.  I am gaining a slight difference in fps don't get me wrong.  But I do think that there is a diffence in the way the game feels and moves.  BTW I am running the 1.22 patch.

Just tested and it works great! I like the new control panel -- it's MUCH less crappy than the link I linked to shows.

I did have to go in and turn off forced AA/AF though. It was making my FPS go from 60-70 to 30-40.

6800 GT OC (370/1000 "stock", haven't re-OC'ed it yet) and I'm running high except for the dynamic crap.

EDIT: 1600x1200 BTW.

What! What are the rest of your settings?

I'm running P4 3.0 /2gb ram/6800GT OC 256MB......and I get choppy all the time after Arty strikes and stuff (yes I've tried everything I can find about speeding up bf2).  And I'm only at 1280x1024!!

Also, what were your framerates before the new drivers?

Thanks!

Jack Bauer

*EDIT* On sharqi, it looks like I avg. about 20-25FPS when I'm in action
The only settings I have turned up are dynamic lighting and shadows, to medium, since it looks like crap otherwise.  Advice, anyone?

About the same. I didn't see a huge difference, but it did perhaps seem a bit smoother.

Here's my specs: http://www.viper007bond.com/about/my-computer/

And here's what I run:

1600x1200
high textures
high terrain
high models
low/off lighting (I like to be able to see indoors and not have it all dark)
low/off dynamic stuff (that is a MAJOR FPS killer and who cares about lots of shadows and shiny objects?)
no aa

I'll go screenshot ingame and get my actual FPS.

Thank you very much viper007!  This is very helpful.  We have very similar rigs (I have an older P4 + A-bit IC7-G, and crappy ram, but overall, they're close)

Best Regards,

Okay, here's a screenshot from singleplayer on Oman:

https://img450.imageshack.us/img450/1334/bf2200605301706450xd.th.jpg

As you can see, it's not as eye-candyish as BF2 can be (shiny stuff and shadows), but personally, I'd rather have the extra FPS than shadows and reflections.
