Did anyone call for the 7950GX2 to go crush the nustance X1900XTX?

Well, in June 6th, nVidia is launching their next gen gfx card and it is a dual core GPU in it and can outperform the ATI X1900XTX but a lot. It can do HDR/AA thing, Better DVI/HDCP and even has a 600 MHZ RAM clock and a 500 MHZ GPU clock. Ok well enough of my ramblings and read the article:

I dont think its going to be the killer, as this is a different kind of technology. This is the card that used in the quad-SLI systems...

Its just like sticking two 7900GTX's on top of eachother....

Also, it would be such a waste of money, as it doesnt support DX10...

I'm just going to copy what I wrote in my other thread about this card:

That card is pretty much 2 7900 GTs on one board... now that I think about it, it's kind of pointless for them to release this card.  Think about it;  There isn't a MB that could run this card in SLI without giving it the 64x PCIe lanes it would require.  I dont even think this card supports SLI anyway.  But you could have a faster setup with 2 7900 GTXs in SLI or 2 X1900 XTXs in crossfire still.  I guess the only pro to this card is that it's a lil cheaper than buying 2 7900 GTs for SLI.

DX 10 is released the same time as Vista on November 6th from what I've read.

*sigh*.. it does support DX10, everything in the 7 series does, BUT the G80 will be DX10 from the ground up.. so it wont be redundant.. and also it's DESIGNED for SLi, aka QUAD Sli, and you dont need 64 lanes for it at all, 32 is AMPLE, the A8N32 SLi Delux would be fine for it.
the only thing you'd need is a fucking KILLER PSU, or 2...

I believe that you shouldn't need 64 lanes either, I know even the newest cards prolly dont even fill the 16 lanes of a normal PCIe slot.  I'm just going off of what the page said about the card.

And I'm pretty sure that DX 10 isn't compatable with any DX 9 software OR hardware (i.e. any card out right now).  That's just what I've read so far.

it is, otherwise it'd be silly to release it.. all the 7 series are dx10 ready, just not specifically built for it

Will G80 cards come out before Vista is relased?  What month are we talking?  Also, price is around $400 to $700 right?

Well i have a x1900xtx and I'm happy with it. If i really need more power i can put in a second for crossfire.
I thought vista is coming 2007 January/February?
BTW: i don't like vista. a lot of "features" i don't need. i.e: TCPA(-Bullshit)

do you have any article/paper/proof on this? i'd really like to know more about that
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I googled it and could only find other people in forums stating that the 7900 series are DX10 ready.  But could not find any actual articles or proof that this is true.  I would be appreciative if someone would post a link that could shed some light on this!

Yup. The op's claim that this is next-gen is somewhat inaccurate in this respect. And it won't even allow you to do quad-SLI due to driver inability to cope.

This thing looks a bit clumsy and hot-running. I'd feel much more comfortable with an NVIDIA G80 or whatever ATI's response to that will be.

how can it be dx10 ready if its not specifically built for it....
EA tried to use DX10 options in there crysis demo with CF x1900xtx but it lagged

Unless their shaders are fully programmable so they can support Microsoft's new SM4 specifications, and can handle geometry shading, the 7xxx series cards are not DX10 compliant.

all 7 series are NOT direct X10 ready, only vista ready which means u can have shiny aero glass windows, not direct X10... and what dung bomb said is correct
