Hi,
In a few other posts it was suggested that some rock pounding music would be nice while racing around in a jeep/chopper/... To be honest, I couldn't agree more... So I went digging in those scary Zip files with all the game data and found some .wav and .ogg files (unloaded_rpm.wav and loaded_rpm.wav).
Extracted the files dubbed them with the first mp3 I came up with that would suit the vehicle of choice, in this case “Paradise by the dashboard light – Meatlove” (It was just a test case so don't flame me for some bad ass choice of music). Lowered the dB of the hmmwv, adapted the length...
And I plugged in... Started a LAN server (no way that I'm gonna try this online, cause PB will be on me like moths on a bonfire, although at least that should be the case) and jumped in the first hmmwv around...
and...
It was hilarious, the pitch of the sound is coupled to your throttle, so I started racing through Karkland with chipmunk Meatlove pounding through my speakers
Funny for a while but not the quite the solution, now was it?
Besides the .wav files there are also a limited amount of .ogg files, basically for each type of vehicle (Chopper/Tank/transport/Jet/APC/AA/...) one. The files are for example hmmwv_cockpit.ogg, Helicopter_ambloop.ogg, Airplane_ambloop.ogg. I reckoned these are some kind of background sounds, so did the same thing and plugged in again... nothing ... did it for the chopper ... nothing ...
So here's my question;
Does anybody know what these .ogg files are for? Are they indeed background sounds, and can you only hear them with certain music settings? Or are they like many other things, just relics of a wanna be a good idea, but no time to finish it for the release, and no need for cleaning up their mess...
Cheers,
R
Ps.: It's not that much of a deal, but if I get it working, I'll post it for the fun of it...
Edit: filename correction...
