I have a Nvidia GeForce 7800 GTX 256 MB, i could run with alot of high settings but it takes 1,000 yrs for it to load unless i get more RAM.

so does anyone know what AA ACTUALLY does?
Bet you don't, Which is why I may as well explain it. What AA does, it takes the the two colours at an edge, like between your gun and the sky, and takes the colour between say black (gun) and blue (sky). It then transfers this into the edge.
Tbh, that's a lot of power you gotta have to have that on max.

look it up on google images
dont like your case but like your graphics card
who gave me bad karma??? and why???
Heres a semi-unrelated post about settings for you all.
My Computer:
Dell Insipiron 8600 (LAPTOP!)
1.6GHz Intel
1.5 Gig of RAM
ATI 9600 Pro Turbo
Right Now, Most of my Settings are on low. The game looks pretty crappy. I can tune one or two of the items to medium without much issue.
Should my computer be able to handle medium? Is there something I can do to improve gameplay? (Besides killing all processes)
If not, which settings should I run on medium?
(Please no OMG its a laptop dont play bf2 on a laptop)
Thanks

hahah i run everything on high, my comp. is the best and i play it the way it is meant to be played not by taking away the fog so you can see farther like a cheater like some people.dont_be_ss wrote:
Alot of people in my posts say i can see much further than them so i'm gunna tell you guys what settings i run the game on.After playing around with all of the graphics settings i have found a combination which enables you to see upto around 500m, i can now see people that are on the edge of the carrier! You need a pretty high end graphics card though. My settings are as follows:
display mode:1280x1024@60hz
terrain:high
effects:low
geometry:high
texture:high
lighting:high
dynamic shadows:off
dynamic light:high
aa:off
texture filtering:high
view scale:100%
This is what works best with my card, i might not have everything spot on, u guys have a fiddle and gimme some feedback!
thats basiclly like cheatingMike_J wrote:
like s3nf, this is what i normally see on highest settings.

lowered my settings by turning off shadows and lighting, created a lan game, and now see this:
http://img244.imageshack.us/img244/6944 … 0040qy.jpg
put everything back on and reloaded the map on a lan game and now see the carrier like this. i can see it completely with everything on when it was normally like the first picture. does this have anything to do with the server or does my graphics card just normally not perform like it should be?

i've been playin on highest settings since i got my computer several months ago. trying to decide if turning off some video options to have an advantage as a sniper is worth it (and trying to see if my view looks the same on the third picture when i join a real server unlike it normally does as in the first picture). if i do, it would be kind of hard to give up pleasing graphics.

Instead of a long post on what to change, check this web site, very detailled and tells you what you can do help your settings.
http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html
Your 1.5G of RAM should help you increase your some settings to medium.
adjusting the video settings is not cheating.

well it is karkand ... you cant see far no matter what because of the fog. maps like wake dont have fog so you can see further.adv3rsary wrote:

That's why I use the SVD on SF maps, there's even more fog.So no real viewing distance advantage and the higher rate of fire makes the SVD a real darling(and a headshot is still a headshot,no matter which sniper rifle).tahadar wrote:

I have set my lighting to off again though, with my graphics card it runs a lot smoother this way and there are no shadows in which somebody could lurk around,so basically I can see further with lighting off...but it'S not that pretty looking anymore.
