- How to see further with the sniper rifle.
i was thinkin of changin scenery but every god damn server i go on [ptg] tv2 etc always crashes and resets when im on just happend on tv2 sharqi i was doin well aswell
I run all high (minus dynamic light and shadows, those are off) with 2x aa on with a single 6800gt, only lagged on 64 games
But I have a mix of med and high now and it doesn't lag

I tried this out and it seems pretty cool.. I managed to do a hell of alot better with the sniper
Some interesting info here chaps, I'm ashamed to say I haven't played with my graphics settings that much but intend to when I get home tonight.
I selected a few random bits, it worked, it looked OK... I didn't go back.
I have a 6800 Ultra (AGP motherboard, no PCI-E) at the moment, 2GB RAM and a P4EE - hopefully I can up a few things to get more distance, at the moment I'm definately missing out.
One weird thing I have noticed though is that when sniping I can often see further at the edge of the screen but when I turn the crosshairs to that point I lose the ability to see as far.
Anyway I'll have a tinker with the setup and see what happens
+1 for prompting me to do this.

I have the exact same thing. For example on wake if i on the edge of the island and look in the corner of my screen i can see the carrier but when i turn to look at the carrier it disappears.megaboost wrote:

I'm hoping a bit of tweeking might sort this then - I wouldn't mind if the edges went fuzzy and the central view gave more distance but the way it is at the moment seems a bit retarded._The.Don_05 wrote:

Roger that . i got a Ati x800, it runs all settings on high (i don't put shadows etc on high, no need for it) with AA on 4. I'm so proud of it working for me without ever doing something in return......CrazeD wrote:

i got hunted down today by a mere shadow, evilmonkeyslayer, the.don 05 and a few more with bf2s logos in front of their names, please leave me alone, i got owned not without giving them some back though
But i am guilty of spending the next couple of rounds trying to shoot you resulting in me having like 2 kills and 7 deaths.
Do you usually play in the TV2-Wake severs ? as i play in them frequently but haven't seen you in there.
this has probalby been posted already in here but i cant read it all.. anywho the only thing in your specs that mattered... is high gemetry
that is why you can see further than most people. the end.

Heh well i must just always be on at different times to you, i do play dedicated wake as well but that is becoming increasing populated with tk'in noobs especially when it comes to the J-10 *Shudders*dont_be_ss wrote:

Defiantly as after just putting lighting to high i could see much further and clearer.dont_be_ss wrote:

Well, all my settings are on low, but this is what I think would work..
display mode:1280x1024@60hz
terrain: high (to be able to actually see the person better)
effects: low (with all the explosions and dust flying off the ground from helicopters and stuff makes it easier to see)
geometry: high (it makes you be able to see further)
texture: high (to see people easier)
lighting: high ( to see further)
dynamic shadows: off (u cant see people as good)
dynamic light: off (makes the carrier look shadowed i think )
aa:off (if your card can handle it, it doesnt matter)
texture filtering: high ( dont know why, but people tell me its good for sniping)
view scale: 100% ( duh )
I don't know if all of those are right, but try it out and tell me how it works.. may work good but im not sure because i dont have a good card right now, im getting one soon, yay for me! hehe

Has anyone seen this video? http://media.putfile.com/ss-long-shot of the long ass sniper shot someone made in Wake? Someone explain to me HOW the hell he did that and what kind of configs he must be running under video LOL!

Wow, aardcore, you are dumb. dont_be_ss FTW!!
I have an ATI RADEON X700 PCI express card with 256 mb. Will that run it?
Heh what do you know I already had everything on high so I just turned dynamic shadows off and I see better.
my 7600gt runs first 4 on high and rest off as they are just extras i like it this way, 80+ fps
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.
