correct, you cant carry a knife longer than 3cm on the streets, and there is absolutely no need to carry a knife anyway.

If we had no swiming pools anywhere, thousands of lives would be saved every day, children in paticular .

And lets face it,

No one needs a swiming pool.

Are you on board.?

I have been in quite a few situations where I needed a gun, and quite a few when I had one. Needless to say It went rather well for me.
But I never needed a pool. I am however putting one in,  Land of the Free and all that.

That's good for you.  For most people, it doesn't.  Personally, I'd rather risk your life going for the big win, than lose others going for a win for you.

No one needs BF2 as a civilian. It promotes violence.

lol yeah if you cant think for yourself, and you just supported my view that owning guns is stupid, the number of stories you hear about young americans who kill people because of violent games. If anyone who play's Bf2 is affected by it they should realy stop playing and get a grip of their life.

It looks like the level of argument has seriously degraded here, Have arguments run thin?
Anyone who believes Video games make children kill is really lost.
The violence in America thing is totally over blown by the media.
Where it does happen its one Convicted felon, repeat offender with a long record of unpunished crimes killing another Convicted felon, repeat offender with a long record of unpunished crimes.
Needles to say neither felt a compelling urge to turn in their weapons.
When it actually is an Innocent it becomes nation wide news because thats rare.
The USA is a huge country with a huge population.
If we posted a list of the citizens who died today trying to retrieve something stuck in a toaster it would stagger you,
Cancel the name calling.

And moral upstanding citizens wander around with kitchen knifes in their jackets just so that they can stab people to death?

What kind of fucked up world do you live in where that is considered good moral fiber?

What do your criminals do?  Anal fist people with cestus?

Anybody who takes a knife/gun around with them for protection and then uses it becomes the criminal i cant understand how anybody can back carrying a knife.

It seems that you do.

As for the whole "is it necessary to carry a weapon to defend yourself" thing, given the choice I would rather live in a non-violent society where it isn't necessary and I was lucky enough to be born into just such a society.  I am so glad I wasn't born in Somalia or some other part of the world where war is part of daily life or the rougher parts of Glasgow where gangs are all that kids can aspire to be part of.

Ultimately what I'm trying to say is that I acknowledge some places have more of a problem with violence than others.  It may be that in your part of the world, you need to carry a weapon to secure the safety of your loved ones but in 99% of the UK, it's not.  Neither guns, mace nor knives are necessary.

Sorry, I was taking Vilham's remark about moral standings to say that the UK had a higher moral standing than the USA since they were doing this knife amnesty thing and that he didn't need to have any kind of weapons because the UK was morally superior.

I've been having arguments like this for days now and read a little too much into his remarks on this paticular page.

Im not saying that we are morally superior but neither do we have huge problems of gun or knife violence. Thats all i was saying, that in my position carrying a weapon is not nessecary because the police is very good in my area and that this knife amnesty is a good thing as it aims to protect.

Well, if there isn't a huge problem with knife violence then why is the British government calling for a ban of all sharp pointed kitchen knives?

Because once long pointed kitchen knives are outlawed, only outlaws will be able to make stuffed porkchops.

I dont carry my firearms, that would be against the law.  I keep them secured in my home.
