I read this guys post, If he is joking you can pull this with my blessing. If he is not It seems pretty sad.

I hate to say "We told you so"  but, . . . .

I joked with him that " now that you have your ( Expert knife Badge), your in a Scotland Yard Data Base. Expect a knock on your door soon. "

Seems like the British Bull Dog is wearing a Tutu now.

Firstly I think this does belong in this section. Secondly please forgive me if I cause offence by joking about a serious issue here.

Wel last night EA gave me an expert knife which I don't feel worthy of owning so i'll be the first in handing it over (if I could).

Anybody feel unworthy of that award seeing as many before us have worked hard to get it?

Because there is a genuine need to carry around knives?

What's so unbelievable about it?  There's been a spate of incidents recently where people have been stabbed by kids who walk around with knives "for protection".  This just seems like a few weeks of publicity before there's a major crackdown on people who do just this.  Guns aren't a major problem here but knives are becoming such.

As for a genuine need to carry a knife around.. like what?  To shave with, to sharpen a pencil, just in case you don't get one at a restaurant?

People are always carrying weapons of some kind for "protection", normally it's because they're just looking for an excuse to use them.
Since guns aren't legal in the UK, they resort to knifes instead.

So will a criminal or mentally, dangerously, deranged type turn in their bad knives?
You realize this is just so much fluff, right?

Use your head. Look at what you quoted.

The idea is to stop people carrying in the streets. I don't understand it either, whats the point? It's just giving stuff away, that you could legally keep at home. I don't really see why gangs would turn them in either. I think the point is that if you're seen with a knife, you will be arrested, but the turning knifes in seems pointless.

What would MI9 do? They've been disbanded for probably about 60 years now. Or do you mean MI5?

thats got to suck having the government up your ass like that, I carry a knife everywhere I go. I ride freestyle BMX downtown and get stopped by the cops a lot, they search me then hand me my knife back!

Why would you want a knife whilst riding? Surely it's gonna stick into you pretty hard when you fall?

Its fold able, like a pocket knife. Its just in case I get jumped, I've had friends riding downtown at night alone and get fucked up, so I'm taking "preventive measures".

Think about the one day that you get into a car accident and you are hanging from your seat belt; the force of gravity is to strong for you to pull yourself up and out of this sharp rough belt digging into your neck and torso, which has semi winded you...

Knowing what you know at this point in your life; would you be thinking "I need a knife"?

P.S. : The car is in fact about to fall from any place; you decide, and you have already "unbuckled" your seat belt...

Glad I live in the sticks...we dont have any of this inner city bullshit. Keep ya knifes there, preferably in a recycle bin to be taken away.
This world makes me sick with all this criminal and terrorist activity. Sometimes, I wish I had lived during a previous time period when crime was a lot lower and people didnt feel the need to carry knives to stab anyone who crossed them.

well Snake, I agree lower crime rates would be wonderful, but crime is just human nature. How do you think that civilizations expanded? even in ancient times people were taking from one another.

Well, back then people were tougher and did carry weapons so and criminal knew he might have trouble if he got into a fight...

These laws only take weapons out of the law abiding citizens/subjects hands; from which they are actually designed to control...

Stopping violent crime is an excuse; they just want to control the citizens/subjects, the government should be afraid of the people, not the other way around...

And which era would that be?  I really don't recall an era where there were no criminals and people did not and people didn't kill each other.  Maybe in the Cro Magnon days?

HaHa, that would probably be the most dangerous time for social argument; they might not have had the same morals associated around killing and death...

Might have been second nature to just smash a persons face in if they didnt give you what you wanted...

And the world was such a utopia when? Good lord, I must hurry up on my time machine invention so that I may live the rest of my life in that peaceful time period...

I don't understand peoples' beef with self-defense. I would be more worried about criminals with weapons than I would average, honest citizens. I carry a .38 or a 9mm, depending on how much weight I feel like lugging around any particular day. I also carry a folding knife. I use it to cut tape, boxes and overzealously-sealed plastic packages. God forbid I ever have to use either on a violent aggressor, but it is a statistical possibility. Self-defense has been around since before recorded history, I'm afraid.

It's going to be a long time before our civilization can safely beat their weapons into farm tools.

we had a gun amnisty here 10 years ago after a guy went on a shooting spree.

all semi/auto rifles, semi/auto shotguns and pump action shotguns had to be handed in.

knives in england are a big problem as far as i know. the police there wear stab vests instead of bullet proof vests.
