comp restart?

Maybe someone can shed some light as to why this is happening -

I just tried to fire up BF2 and here's what happened...

normal cd drive startup thing, screen goes black like normal, screen flickers a couple times between different black tints (not normal), then my computer restarts!!! So right now I am unable to play BF2 and this is upsetting me greatly. I've tried going through xfire, tried going straight from cd, tried going from my icon, and still the same thing happens. This is weird that my computer just restarts itself.

to shed some light:

I just installed a new soundcard (Steinberg VSL2020) which is in a PCI slot but it does not have an input for my mic. so I use my mic on my motherboard soundcard, and everything else runs through my receiver and out my speakers. Dod Source runs fine this way... I'm wondering if the double audio card is what is giving me all the trouble?

I'm sorta an expert when it comes to fixing bf2 when if fucks up.On a long day of gaming[6 hours max like every month] i average 2-3 restarts,connection problems,white screen,black screen,turn off and not restart and finally that one you just described which i can say is the worst.Alls i can say is install the full patch over everything,and use the start bf2 option not the play online one.

yah man, tried all that, but with no avail... still restarts. I'm completely lost on this one

and yes, I have installed the "full" 1.3 patch. it wasn't working before the patch and it's not working after the patch

I have absolutely no idea then,give this one to BADHQ he seems to know everything ,even the size of my.....................toenails.

Just Pm him he will defiantly help you on that.

yessir Hyper, both are enabled for the plain fact that my new card does not have a 'mic in' section. This card is for pro audio recording which I'm also getting into right now, and so I was using the PCI card for all my line out stuff through the speakers and my motherboard soundcard just for my mic. Dod source works just fine, BF2... problems.
