I dated a Mormon girl in High School for a while. Been to a Mormon church, it was strange to say the least. The current Mormon church (Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) doesn't practice purgatory anymore (or so they say). But everyone there in the church was just... WEIRD! Everyone had a really strange vibe to themselves. I couldn't explain it.
Never again will I date a Mormon girl... Evar!
Hey man I think you mean they don't practice polygamy...ya know the multiple wives thing...purgatory is something completly different...just so ya know...
haha yeah that's what I meant. 'Polygamy'
Purgatory is the waiting room...

I must say that most lds members that I have met are pretty cool....Their ideology I don't agree with but I cant argue with their results...What i mean by that is; that lds teens have fewer unwanted pregnancy's, less drug use, fewer drop outs, less alcohol use/abuse, and etc etc etc... just my 2 cents

I know this is sort of off-topic and I apologize, but I was just wondering, do mormons give the Vatican the kind of respect catholics do?  I'm not Catholic myself (not anymore anyway) I just got curious.

In my neighborhood I am surrounded by Mormons, I was in a Mormon scout troop for awhile and a good friend of mine is Mormon, they are all really nice people but they are also all really, really weird, he got up at 5 am so he can go to a Mormon class before he would have to go to school.

Edit: to tick them off use the word cult repeatedly, they seem to have no sense of humor about that, and after learning about them, the only thing that makes me think they are not a cult is that there are ALOT of them

pretty much i think it's the confusion about your religion.  I just dont understand how you can believe in it.  So joseph smith found these plates and read them out of a hat to someone who wrote them down.. idk its all confusing and really doesnt make sense?  Correct me please if i'm wrong

I'm a mormon too!  Though technically we aren't really called that, and we're actually veering away from calling ourselves that too.

You know, we have all these rules about our religion, but you have to admit that they are actually good rules.  They make sense (no smoking, drinking, caffeine, pre-marital sex), unlike some other religions' rules, of which I can only think of the no-pork rule (sorry jews!).

I live in Utah, and I'm proud too.  I have a friend at work who can do nothing but talk about how different it is here, compared to L.A. where he came from.  To me, it's common to see a police car or two while out driving.

As for our history, well, what church doesn't have wild claims as part of its history?  I mean, red sea parting?  come one! (I kid, we believe in the bible too)

can you explain the difference between what you believe and what Catholics believe and where your book came from as compared to the Catholics then you can see how your religion is different...

Well the book of Mormon was supposed to be written in reformed Egyptian, yet somehow the founder of the Mormon church could read it that is weird. Oh, and the whole book was written on Gold plates, that were returned to an angel so now no-one can verify there existence?

To clarify my earlier statements Mormons are great people, but in my experience there behavior can be very odd when compared to the rest of society.

edit:like the post above me I don't mean to bash anyone's religion,

What is religion without faith?

If god came down from the clouds, that would totally blow the idea that we were here to be tested that we would remain faithful despite all temptaions.

I'd love to paraphrase Douglas adams here, but I don't wanna.  I'll just give you the cliff notes:

Man accuses God of existing.  God claims that without faith he cannot exist.  Man points to the Babel Fish and says that such a creature could not have evolved naturally, and that God does in fact, exist, so by God's own logic he does not exist.  God promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.  Man then goes on to celebrate by proving that black is white and gets himself killed at the next Zebra Crossing.

I think that I may be stating the obvious but no matter what church you belong to, there are people who are weird or don't live up to what’s required of them.  It doesn't even have to be a religious group, it could be any group.  I am LDS and enjoy being a part of this religion but I also understand that this religion is not for everyone.  On my dads side of the family they used to tar and feather the Mormon Missionaries back in the day.  Ironic huh?  LOL LOL.

I totally understand why some people who live in Utah who are not Mormon think a little less of them.  It’s a different culture down there.  I would have a hard time living down there myself.  (it’s nice to visit though)    In the same line of thought, some people would find problems living in the south.  (i.e. Yankee, or true southerner ect…)  LOL.

If there is one thing I have learned in my life, it is to respect everyone’s religion.  Sure I was a missionary when I was 19 years old for a couple of years but I didn’t have a second thought when someone slammed a door in my face.  I respect others choices.  To tell you the truth, I am more than happy to see someone in any religion than none at all.

Well, I hope I put my thoughts out there without sounding like some hippie.  Also, for the person who though you were the only LDS person who played this game…your way off.  LOL.  I love this game.  We have a group who plays all the time.  We don’t mind the cussing that people put out there…I live just off campus and phrases like that are common.

See y’all in the game!
