a month? no, a week. AM2 is released in 23th of may, the motherboards are already for sale.
what i would do is get the 975x chipset workstation edition from asus (supports conroe), and get a cheap pentium D 805, best chip made EVER, great overclocker (2.66ghz to 3.8 on air!!!), get good quality ddr2 ram such as crucial, patriot and corsair. PCI-E card i would go for 1900xt if u can spend an extra 50 bucks for a zalman vf900cu cooler, 7900gt if ur looking for pure bang for the buck.
as for conroe releae... its gonna come out in july, its mid range cpu (2.4ghz, no overclock, for 315usd) outscored the FX60 (overclocked to 2.8ghz). Conroe is not a joke, its just that intel turned from zomg we suck to we are teh pwnage
