I thought the military phonetic alphabet (Alpha Bravo Charlie Delta Echo Foxtrot Golf Hotel India Juliet Kilo Lima Mike November Oscar Papa Quebec Romeo Sierra Tango Uniform Victor Whiskey Xray Yankee Zulu) used Golf instead of Gamma...

Anyone know why EA uses Gamma?

i think (e.g. im a civvie) that the military already used gamma. my civilian mind thinks its bc golf spoken fast could be misinterpreted for cough, half, etc. may not sound like much, but think of somebody saying it very fast with varying dialects which accentuate (sp) different syallbles. 100% guess, i could very well be wrong,

it is most likely that EA stuffed up and used the greek alphabet "g" instead of the phonetic version

It does sometimes vary depending on the country.  Given that Dice are Swedish, they might have a different callsign.

G IS golf in the phonetic alphabet but during WW2 another phonetic alphabet was used by the americans, eg, a was able, e was easy, golf was gamma ect

this is great, from the wiki:

In the 1991 film Hot Shots!, the alphabet is parodied in such phrases as "Yankee Doodle Floppy Disk, this is Foxtrot Zulu Milkshake," "Alpha Velveeta Knuckle Underwear, you are cleared for take-off," and "Sphincter Mucus Layer Ringworm, roger."

Hmm, so I guess the concensus is that it's just a mistake by dice huh?

the phonetic alphabet is used in callsigns etc. when you name squads task units/force/element you do not use the phonetic alphabet to avoid confusion...
even so a squad named gamma or beta could still have "golf" or "bravo" in their callsign.

edit: im the comsop of the ship in my sig, so thats what ive learned

im a former USMC (MOS was 2512 field wireman) radio/telephone operator.    Was wondering when this would be asked.  It is supposed to be Golf.

alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot, GOLF, hotel, india, juliet, kilo, lima, mike, november, oscar, papa, quebec, romeo, sierra, tango, uniform, victor, whiskey, xray, zulu...

Roger Dodger, Over Under.  What's your vector Victor?
