That never works because the oil companies will still make their money the next day.

The only solution is to boycott one oil company at a time. Start with Shell gas stations and never buy from them again. When they eventually go out of business, boycott the next one.

That would never work either since the only thing that Americans have in greater abundance than ignorance is laziness.  We will continue to go to the same gas station on the corner every day and bitch about the price, and never do anything about it.

We are nothing more than cattle being led to our own slaughter.  And to think that we are the 'last superpower' in the world.

the mayor of SF was allowing gay couples to get "married."  Perhaps there's a large gay population, but its reputation comes from the "marriages" that were performed there.

if everyone stopped driving and started riding the bus or BART or MUNI, or what ever it is where you are then that would get the picture across more quickly.  because EVERYONE wouldn't be buying gas for a LONG time, rather than just a measly loss of like 10 million dollars for one day.

It's a good idea, I have seen this running around for years and it never happens.

I don't necessarily like high gas prices any more than anyone else, but it is what it is largely do to our own driving habbits.

America is notorious for one car, one person driving.  We are also notorious for having to have trucks and SUVs with V8 engines that get 8 gallons to the mile (yes that's a joke).  We've gone away from living near where we work, and don't have walkable communities any more; people are flocking to the burbs.  Even if the items we need are only at the corner convenience store that's 1 block away, we jump into our cars and drive there.

It is our own laziness, gas guzzling cars, and expectations that gas should be cheap that is causing much of this.  We have failed to address our own consumption, and increasing consumption, as part of the problem.  We haven't built a new refinery in this country in over 15 years, and our increased consumption has led to us having to actually import gasoline because we have insufficient capacity to refine our own.  Cheap gas in the past, on top of many owning gas guzzlers, is that the low cost of gasoline has made research for alternatives unprofitable, as well as making our auto selection of hybrid, E85, natural gas, and vehicles that run on alternatives, as well as infrastructure for supplying fuel to such vehicles, nearly non-existant.

And lest we not forget that China and India's economies are exploding.  They have more people employed, and are now able to buy cars, which they are doing.  Their economies are leading to an explosion in demand for oil.

Folks, this is simple supply and demand.  Gas prices are just not going to go down because we want them to.  If you don't like what it costs you to run your vehicle, get a more fuel efficient vehicle, car pool, take public transportation, ride your bike to work (where possible), live closer to your job, and use your bike or the legs you were born with to take your lazy ass to the store that is a block away.

as I said before, that will do Jack shit

And Jack is on his way out of town.

One day loss doesn't matter when all it is is just postponing the purchase to the next day.

Gasoline is a guaranteed sale, the oil companies just have to wait for it.  You want to do something about the high price of gasoline, endorse E85 or biodiesel.  That actually does something instead of meaningless 'feel good' garbage.

No way, South Korea has to be the public transportation capitol of the world. There are a million bus routes all through the country, running non stop, and if you miss one bus, there is another from the same route usually less than 5 minutes behind it.

That doesnt mention the subway, which will take you pretty much anywhere for less than $2.

Oh and the train, including the almighty KTX bullet train.

And taxis like its going out of style.
