Someone eariler posted sweet overclocking results for the Core Duo (Yonah) Chip at 3.8 GHZ, which shows a lot of excitement and impressiveness.  This article I just found and read would shock you and it is very very true. No jokes, gags or any other tricks to it.

The folks at Tom's Hardware has successfully overclocked the unpopular, 90nm, overheating, shitty slow, Smithfield, watered-down, Pentium D 805, from its 2.66 GHZ, 533 MHZ FSB, 1 MB L1 Cache, Cheap, $130 Dual-Core to becoming a stable 4.1 GHZ, barely needing Water Cooling, 51% performance boost, crushing the AMD Opteron 144, FX-60 and even Intel's EE 965 into dust in terms of performance, power house.

This is Intel's secret overclocking weapon, placed right in a not popular, cheap, old, and water down dual core, able to crush the latest top-of-the-line chips in the market, for only pennies from the pocket. As the upcoming Conroe is coming soon, this is the start from Intel to show their power back to people right now as the leading chip maker and even a clever and powerful way to end the Pentium legacy and power. So read up and comment this unbelievable overclocking escapade!

Article: http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/10/ … ghz_cores/

EDIT: Bear in mind, in order to get such results, you need a good mobo (they mention three ASUS ones and Two GIGABYTE onces in the article) that can handle such VCore watt output and even this amount of overclocking (The top ASUS board they recommend currently in the US is only around 200 dollars on NewEgg). Also bear in mind to grab a 1 GB to 2 on DDR2 800MHZ SDRAM to ultilize the ultimate results (NewEgg sells them for 160 for 1 GB). Still very cheap compare to other upgrades I have seen... For more details, read the article...

I have a AMD 64 X2. 4400+ dual core
2 gigs ram
2 x Nvidia 7800 GT sli
10000 rpm raptor drive 75 gig
2nd 300 hd
My main problem is mi internet connection. Also, I seem to notice a lot of people over looking the speed of their monitor. I've watched people spend thousands and still have a slow machine. The monitor should not have over a 6 mps speed.
Couldn't I just nerd tweak that to go even yet faster?

+ 1 for the hot tip

Yes you can, but if you read the article, you would find that the Pentium D 805 has a standard 20x fixed multiplier, which is higher than the AMD's unlocked multipliers and aides so much in gaining such a overclock boost, the AMD X2's can Overclock that well, than what the 8005 can and also if overclocked to its max, you would find the 4.1 GHZ (could go up to 4.3, but very risky) could be in or surpass the performance league of the X2's.

lol, Gigawatts. Jiga does not exist. Even though that's what I thought Doc Brown said too. Then I had physics class and it turned out to be giga

EDIT: meh, stupid me you prolly said that on purpose

Yeah, I was just kidding, but really, do you just set the proc speed manually on the motherboard with the multiplier?

I WANT TO GO 88 MILES PER HOUR!!!

In the 805's case, the multiplier is fixed at the very good 20x. All you need to do is get a good OC mobo, good DDR2 RAM and you hands to tweak the VCore output and the FSB Speed Rate

A gigawatt processor? Surely you mean GHz.

Wait, what?
I'm no computor geek and I probably have the terminology wrong but check it out;
I was at Frys and they have a big row of monitors all displaying the same feed. Some of the bigger screens had a delay in producing the image, when I looked at the tag I noticed a speed rating. The average monitor had a seek/ display ? time of 12 mps, I think.   I found the fastest monitor I could buy to complete my new AMD 64 dual core set up, with a speed of 3, its a viewSonic.

I was told that having a badass tower wasn't enough, you have to have a fast monitor also to complete the package.

Techies?

correct
but it's not THAT noticable like the display on fry's (i saw that one too)

in real life, you probably won't notice it EXCEPT when you are playing some really fast hard core game.. even then you'd only get a glimps of lag

fry's just being gay and showing some really messed up video so people would pay $200 more for better monitor

It's the response time you're thinking of. It's the time in which the lcd's can change from when they're told to change.

Ever used a TFT and noticed when you're dragging a window across the screen that there seems to be some shadowing? (If you're moving a window from right to left then you'll notice it on the right hand side of the window)

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Response_time for a better description.

It's measured in milliseconds by the way.

I have a Viewsonic VX924, at my last check Viewsonic made the monitors with the lowest response times around.

21" and 5ms?! I might have a new plan for next month, then...

Oh, when the divorce is final I'm gonna build a ROCKET box...

Wait, the Gateway has a native resolution below 1080i...why would you want a 21" monitor that can't natively display 1080i? Oh well...

If you read the article, there are instructions and mentionings of certain parts.

Not only that but, did you see the power consumption of that thing?
