I have been running around aimlessly looking for crazy good hiding spots. Trying my luck with sniper, thinking of places besides flags to lay claymores without vehicles tripping them, overall just messing around with it every now and then. I have found myself playing more LAN games and Modded maps that are not ranked. Keeps me more relaxed!

- a question to all first sergeants/master gunnery sergeants:
I just got First Sergeant recently, and I don't think I'll ever make it to 50,000 points. I'll probably move on to another game long before that. But in the meantime my motivation is simply fun. I play because I have fun doing it. I don't go for any specific awards, I don't save up time in kits, I just go around and play normally.
Sometimes I still get an award and it's a nice bonus, but really I just like showing off my First Sergeant rank and killing stuff. I'm content with what I have and don't mind the fact that I'll probably never get promoted again.
I'm at my peak. Time to enjoy it

I beginning to spend more time on bf2s.com than I am in the game. Who knows?
I thought I'd never rank up after First either.........but now I'm like two rounds away..........so I dunno, I may make Captain one day. At least I know second and first leu are attainable....although it really doesn't matter after 2nd cause I'll have all my unlocks. I gotta say though.......that 30 grand stretch between First Sergeant and Sergeant Major seems real long.

thanx folks for the encouraging words!
After you make Sgt. Major, the next level up plateu is Captian. Its 25k till Major.
I got Sergeant Major not long ago.. well atleast not compared to how long it took me to get there.
I recommend you just play as you see fit at all times. For me sometimes that meant being a medic and jumping in armor because i wanted the cool sergeant major insignia sooner.. sometimes it meant trying to go for some other badge.. sometimes it meant just playing an intense game of ground pounding..
The time will go by fastest if your goal is to enjoy yourself.

Um, well once I got to 20 000 I thought that I would never get to 50 000. I still havent, but I dont play the game as much now so whenever I do it seems like less of a slog. And also you could go for badges and stuff like that.
Medic ftw im almost there got 5000 expecting to get about 2000 or 3000 today
I agree with this...it seems pretty stupid when they came out with the new ranks that they didn't adjust master sergent down to 35k or so....now you rank up quickly to Gunny, then tread water to First and kill yourself to get to Master then you rank up quickly again to 2nd, 1st and so on....stuuuuupid.XIthRyker wrote:
I wish they gave you more of a reason to get the next rank. Its stupid you need 30,000 from 1 rank to another when all the others are at most 15,000.
Hmm. What's my goal until Sgt. Maj.?
Well, mainly I want to get 100h as squad member, even though i don't have anywhere NEAR 100h as a commander..so the medal that i'm aiming for (Distinguished Service Medal) is pretty pointless. It's just one'a those..things to go for.
THE OTHER thing I'm going for, is for my People's Medallion. Since they lowered the req, I just need about 45h as PLA, and about 4-5 more wins, which won't be easy since most servers are all USA v MEC, and I refuse to play at 24/7 PLA/USA servers since..eh. I like variety..but i might have to break that rule
Also gunning for Combat & Marksman Infantry Medal, while i'm only at like..what 300h.
and..I need 131 pistol kills to qualify for expert pistol badge...and 18 kills IAR for expert knife..which..yea.
there's my goals! A nice juicy long road, but i'm only 13,300 away from Sgt. Maj. Whee!

I'll work on getting the badges that require general ranks (a long way off I know), but will whore transports! Also maybe go for Meritous Service.
Keep at it boys!
I've been through that shit before
I've been through that shit before
I've only ever gone for the sniper, pistol and knife badges. Everything else was unintentional.
I would have my expert pistol and knife badges, but at the time I didn't have the global requirements. Can't say i've ever understood the obsession with them that much, the only one I can say I obsessed a bit about was the expert sniper. Which I might add I got legit by actually using the sniper kit and not whoring it in a tank.
As to keeping myself interested etc. I find setting myself challenges keeps me interested, for example only going after running targets. Or perfecting long range sniping (often against running targets) etc.
I doubt i'll play much BF2 during the month of June, since that's when HL2 Episode 1 is released.

im gonna PWN EVERY THING!!!!!
I'm on 42,000 now and I practice with other things in the game. I used to be a jet whore, but now I've started whoring the helicopter. Single piloting/gunning is a lot of fun to do, and if you're good enough, it helps closes up the gap quickly. But caring about points too much just drains the fun out of the game. Well, the fun EA has left in it.
♥
I just recently crossed the 30,000 point gap and I am still having fun playing. I find I am playing in almost-empty servers that are waiting to start with teammates a lot more often these days, just messing around with vehicles in ways I wouldn't want to try if points were involved. The game is almost more fun when you aren't thinking about stats or medals.
I find myself going after the badges I wouldn't normally play, such as support or commander. As I play, the point do come though.
