- a question to all first sergeants/master gunnery sergeants:
Note the following only if you care about stats:
With the relaxed general requirements (if you plan on getting all the way to 180K in this century), you're free to play how you want to play, regardless of rank. Just get the prereq badges if you want first sergeant or sergeant major; not all that hard.
Since last year, I've spent a tremendous amount of game time on BF2; 400 hours. I've had a few gaps here and there, but there are other things on my plate.

I'm taking a Civ III break right now. When I burn out on that (again) I'll go back to BF2.
Before the break I was working on the kits and vehicles I don't use much.

Oblivion and *gasp* Diablo II here. Yes. The cruel game of the leech...Vic42 wrote:

I go for Expert everything.
And try to fly a plane for more than a minute without crashing miserably.
EDIT:
Oh, and the WCR. Booyah. 32 more hours as commander. 262 more wins. Meh, it'll work.

The expert vehicle badges are easy compared to the combat badges. I had to struggle to get my vet knife badge. I know with some help I can get the expert pistol badge, but the knife badge seems to be my toughest.[QXJZ]Capt_Kefra wrote:
It is a lot of points, but if you set goals for yourself it won't seem as daunting to you. If you haven't got all the basics or veterans, you can always work towards those. It seems EA is planning to change the requirements for the general ranks from all Experts to all Veterans, so you may as well get a head start on that. Or accumulate time to get a specific award: an expert badge, a medal, or a couple ribbons. There's enough stuff to do so that those 30,000 points won't seem so bad after all.
From someone who's definitely been there before, good luck in your pursuit to three stripes up and four down!
I play when I feel like it (a bit hard with midterms though )
I intend to make it to Sergeant Major over the summer. In the short term, I'm trying to make it to 250 hours so I qualify for some awards.

Command as much as possible. You'll get outranked regularly but you're gonna want all the time you can get.
I spent a lot of it in planes XD and now I'm stuck needing major command time.

-WCR is first priority, im up to 1.93 and climbing.
-I want to get all my expert kit badges at the same time so i vary them and have around 35hrs for each kit.
-getting my veteran ground defense badge is also a must at the moment.

I'm nearly there, just under 7,000 points to go
I don't really give a shit about getting all those medals, since i got all the unlocks i need i play soley for the fun of playing... M95 Heli/jet pwnage is currently my favorite pastime...
Look at this Video and you will know how to improve your game. A lot of people go public straight after they bought the game. Practice in single player mod first and you will find it a lot easier when you get on a public Server.
Redux said him self that you don’t need to practice more than an hour or so to be able to fly solo in the MI-28. Look at the Video and practice in single player or on unranked servers and you’ll find it a lot easier after just 10 hours or so………

Have Fun, that’s what it all about………at least public!

I just concentrate on smaller goals, getting badges, medals etc.
I have 28,142 to go until Sergeant Major. I'll be trying to learn how to fly heli's in the meantime.
I got about 33000 til Sgt.Mjr yet, gona get me 1st Sgt before that (3000 pts to go!). Working on getting vet combat support and assault badges at the moment, followed by spec ops to complete the set. Also, aiming for the Euro ribbon / medal and mertorious medal, maybe expert explosives too.
Im crap in helis and planes and dont intend to learn them properly yet, focusing on armour and AA for vehicles.
Ah yea, and getting more shock paddle kills, got 5 yesterday IAR which doubled my current count
Theyre just so funny and embarrasing on the opponent

I'm trying to get my SPM and accuracy up. That's about it. I love flyin' them choppas!!
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
I enjoy the game however, i dont think i will keep this up long enough to get 50k points....thats a lot of time.. btw my karma ran over your dogma
The time it takes to rank up is nothing compared to the time it will take me to get the air combat medal: 140975 days.
@KtotheIMMY: that's a very nice picture in your sig, where did you get it?

well i earned 1790 ish points from 2 days of casual (not casual not freaking 6 hour streak hardcore gaming) playing
so if you can score like that, i don't think it's gonna take that long
i just became first sarge last week i think.. so i'm just gonna jet whore my way up to sargent major

im still a first sargeant and kidna like it its not like noobs rank but not a geek postition but i just play to play and its all good so i will get there in time
I've got less than 300 points till Sergeant Major........so I think I'm gonna spend that time just killing people.....in whichever manner seems most entertaining at the moment.

Just play how you want to. In time, the necessary points will come.
I've been trying to get kills to go towards expert pistol.. I've tried to get expert knife, first aid, and explosives a few times so far.
But other than that I've just played like I normally do and the points just coem out of nowhere (it's all downhill from 40k points, then you're out of the 5 digits)
