K well, Now I need to solve the problem of why it asks for a disc two from my one disc DVD version.IBKCKNURASS wrote:
ya ok theres ur problem..... U probally need a full uninstall and reinstall if thats the case.SysTray wrote:
The only thing I can even think of is I ran a system restore to undo the uninstallation of BF2 that I couldn't fix.
if u move the tcontents of the cd to a folder on the drive u should have no prob reinstalling.
BTW never uninstall a prog then try to reverse that by using system restore. just reinstall the prog. what u were trying to use it for is not what system resore is for.

cause its an issue with some systems. the official EA workaround is to copy te contents of the disc to ur hd and install from hat folder
How would I go about doing that? Just create some folder and copy the CD shit to it, then proceed to uninstall and reinstall without the CD?IBKCKNURASS wrote:

You can either do that(copy the contents to a new folder), or delete all the shit in your temp folder. i.e. "C:\Documents and Settings\PROFILE\Local Settings\Temp\"
There's probably a left over folder/files from a previous installation that's messing up the new install. There shouldn't be anything needed in your temp folder. But only you would know for sure.

Why the hell dont I have any of these directories?NM156 wrote:

where it says the word profile should be your windows Xp profile.
and yes just create a directory on the desktop and copy the contents of the dvd to taht folder(select all then drag and drop).

I'm doing the other thing though.
Ok I found the TEMP folder, delete everything?
I'm not sure if this will help, but for a lot of these files you don't seem to have, try going into "tools" then "folder options", then click the "view" tab and make sure the circle next to "Show hidden files and folders" is filled. I hope you haven't already done so and think I'm trying to insult your intelligence or anything though.SysTray wrote:

You should be able to, yes. Make sure that it's the correct TEMP folder. To find the correct one:SysTray wrote:

Right-click My Computer/Properties, Advanced tab, Environment Variables. Under the User Variables, look for "TEMP" & "TMP". Those will be the paths for your profile.
Please, I know I'm stupid when it comes to this crap.Fschwang wrote:

Cleared the Temp folder, tried to install using the files saved to Hard drive, same error. I need a disc two that I never bought and shouldn't need.
Unless the DVD version actually came with a disc 2 that I just don't remember having...

Sorry man, I don't have the DVD version. I don't know what else to tell you?
Its alright, I guess I'll just have to buy a new game. Thanks for the help.NM156 wrote:

Systray, Try inserting the cd into your cd-drive go to Start - My computer - the drive should say BF2 CD-1 (or sumthin like that)-right click and select copy go to My Computer- click on ur hard drive- go to program files- create(or use existing one if it exists) a folder called EA GAMES and paste the copied file into there
See if that works
