HELP Internet Problems!!!!!!!!

Ok im having trouble with my internet connection.
I have Verizon DSL 1792 KBPS by 488 KBPS.
Here is the problem.
IT CONSTANTLY CRASHES!!!
LIKE EVERY 5 HOURS!!!
Or if it dosen't crash, it jumps from 1792 KBPS to 32 KBPS!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so sick of it.
Because of this I can't play BF2.
Im not sure what I should do?
Should I replace my modem?
Please add any info you think might be useful.

Have fun talking to the tech support. Things you can do on your end are check your phone lines inside the house. I had to rewire my entire house to make my connection solid since I had really old phone lines. If that's not the problem you are going to have to hound Verizon every day until they fix it. Complain like crazy and you can probably get your bill discounted. After dealing with Ameritech>SBC>AT&T I'm now only paying $15 a month for those same speeds you get.
