Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
i think this question should be amended to only include people with say 25 hours or more in a jet. The reasoning is if you want to figure out what works better, having 1 hour or even 5 hours in a jet is not enough to get a good feel in my opinion. After all, you did say "Jet Guys" which would not include me.
Joystick. More precise for everything except machine gunning.

Joystick, saves yourself some time smashing mouse on pad trying to pull up fast enough. Joystick is so simple and easy, I highly reccomend over mouse+keyboard, just for the fact that you can play longer/more comfortable.

I tried the whole kb mouse thing with the demo... wasnt happening.
I did the whole keyboard and keyboard thing... and that got old but it was very effective. Hence why my jet kd ratio blows so much ass.
Finally got a joystick, nice and cheap saitek st90 14 bucks, no twist action, still using wasd for throttle and rudder. Got sick of having a sore left hand and decided to step my game up.
This joystick has a lot of bugs but once you iron them out pretty much its butter I can perform almost 60 functions at the tip of my hands using the joystick.
chat, eject, parachute, hat view, map resize, map window, talk to the commander, open up the main radio window and spot an enemy while im flying. There is just a lot you can do With this joystick its amazing, and the trottle helps you hover cap flags in a helicopter or pull off some crazy ass stunts that you cannot pull off with a mouse. Its just not accurate enough.
The only benefiit a mouse will give you over a joystick is that you can fire rockets in a helicopter more in a more stable focused pattern.
But 100 dollars is quite excessive.
Joystick ftw, 70 hours in jets Logitech extreme 3d pro ftw, although i have the X52 flight system

Just got my keyboard. I use the joystick and keyboard. Joystick for stearing and gunning, keyboard for rudder and throttle.
Joystick for me because it's easyer to do evasive maneuvers in a jet to get away from bogies and anti air rockets. Though currently it's a bit more difficult to get away from aa rockets because a lock is almost a guarantee hit.
most of the top pilots use M&k, like me.

Keyboard only.
KB + mouse sucks and is retarded. You can't make continuous turns and I find it much harder to aim (not that I can gun a certain pixel with KB).
Joystick rocks and I have one that I've used only once or twice. It's good, but I can't get used to it and the only reason I ever die in a plane is because I kinda suck, not because of my input device.
