I was checking EA's BF2 web site (http://www.ea.com/official/battlefield/ … ate_050106) and this is the info...

Attention Soldiers!  5/1/06

Later today we will announce the Battlefield 2: Armored Fury™ booster pack for Battlefield 2™ which brings all-out mechanized battles to US soil for the first time. Maps set in the US have been requested by the community for quite some time, and we are pleased to deliver three that set the stage for huge armored warfare battles.

3 NEW MAPS
Operation Midnight Sun: The conflict spreads near the Pacific Ocean in a key battle for the Alaskan port of Valdez, where Chinese forces are attempting to secure much-needed fuel from the pipeline.
Operation Harvest: The MEC army begins their march East towards the U.S. Capital, and American forces must stall the advance long enough for reinforcements to arrive.
Operation Road Rage: The MEC forces have infiltrated deep into the USA, and are using the highways to move quickly towards key industrial sites that are dangerously near civilian areas.
To balance the wide-open tank battles with aerial firepower, six new vehicles will be introduced, including 3 scout helos such as the MD 530 ?Little Bird?, and 3 ground attack aircraft like the A10 Warthog.

In addition, patch 1.3 is on the way, and with it comes single player co-op support, so you can grab a friend and tackle the bots as a team. More details to follow, so stay frosty!

I can't wait...

Later today, huh? This was posted yesterday, anyone seen anything from them since then?

Why make an announcement that you're going to make an announcement?
They probably had a meeting to plan the meeting where they would discuss the announcement to make the announcement for Armored Fury...  No wonder it's 3 months late!

Thoughts of Mad Max come to mind.  Too bad two seater motorbikes are not added.  Was cool on Joint Ops.

I think I might have to actually succumb to the evil that is an EA Booster Pack! This sounds ridiculous, I can't wait!

I apologize for failing horribly at my attempt to be funny. The -1 I got at 22:34 on 5/2 taught me a good lesson. Sorry.

Definitely. Maps would be far less sterile if there was some autonomous dynamic elements involved.

I agree, it might take a little of the run and gun out of it, slow it down, or another target for teamkillerz? I'd like more strategy.

and how about the commander has more of a responsibility to keep the civi bots alive, he would get - points concurrent with his score for every civilian killed and it would make him more careful where to drop the arty.  All these are MAJOR factors in modern combat to compensate on the double score

OK, I'm confused....  When they said "Later Today" was this a quote from back in January or were they supposed to provide us a release date on the 1st???

Why tease us like this?  What does it accomplish? Get the Patch out...  Get AF out.....  Then destroy the game completely in a few months with 2142.....
